I went out for a look for a Sambar today. I spent most of the morning glassing all the sunny faces trying to find a stag enjoying the warm sun, after only spotting 2 hinds i decided to hunt some of the thicker country below. I got onto a good game trail with a fresh set of marks on it and slowly made my way around the hill, there were a lot of reasonably fresh rubs along the trail. I had been walking for about an hour when i found a fresh rut pad a stag had just used. I knew he could'nt be to far away. I had been slowly working my way around the hill further when i spotted the stag only 30m away looking away from me. I knocked an arrow and drew back, picking the spot i released hitting him well. He took off down the hill, i gave him about half an hour and then made my way down. I spotted him about 80m away and he was down, i snuck in and gave him another arrow just in case. Unfortuantely he was missing his left inner, but that doesn't bother me i was wrapt.

Well hunted mate. You've joined the small club of guys that have nailed one with a bow like Ant said. He's a unit stag!

Thanks fellas,
Ant sorry im not much of a story teller, i just tell it how it was.
Jesse my broadhead tip just penetrated through the opposite side, there a tough animal. Broadside or quatering away shots are the only way to go its just not worth taking risky shots. Good luck i know your keen to get one.
Dan it realy isn't that easy, you have to be dedicated., put the time in ,learn there habits, expect to have a lot of unsuccessful hunts, try to put it all together and have a lot of luck.

Hey Mat you also said you had lots of luck.
To quote Fred Bear "The more chances one creates for himself the more likely he is to be lucky". You made that " Luck " from all the hours , days and possibly even years you no doubt have put in.
Cheers
Paul
