View Full Version : Mozza's Heads
Well after mozza read about my rabbits getting away he sent me 5 ADDER small game heads. I took them for a test run this arvo and managed these two. one was a 15m chest shot and died pretty much instantly and the seccond was a 30m neck shot! and its lucky to still have its head on! so they fly straight and have plenty of killing power! Mozza your a ledge and i will send that dvd when i burn the next couple.

Because I shoot them in the shallows coach and the head would put a good size hole in the head area, killing them quickly.I don't use a fishing reel etc on my bow,I usually go for a swim to retrieve my arrow and fish.Haven't lost any yet.
That sounds like good value Mozza,I paid $15 for 3 judo heads a couple of weeks ago, damn expensive if you lose the lot after the first shot.
Archery Mart sell them 5 for $9
Hehe I shot about 12 carp with outback hunters! The arrows went straight thru the carp and kept going. Funny thing was that the carp did a quick dash underwater and then ended up floating up to the surface about 20 m away from where I shot them. I shot them all with a trad bow hehe. Yeehar it was fun
I had to swim in the water (which froze my two beach balls off) to get my arrows back. It's pretty amazing that they actually flaot. I ended up getting tangled in blackberry bushes which were submerged in the water and then when I finally got out of the water all prickled up, slipped over half naked into a stinging nettle bush. Oh the delights of bowhunting...
Are you allowed to shoot fish with a bow in the ACT????

To be honest I don't think you are suppose to shoot any freshwater fish with a bow or speargun.I have been told by local inspector in Queensland you may only use a bow and arrow where there are signs for spearfishing in coastal waters.
But these carp are such a pest in our inland waterways it would have to be a very hard fisheries inspector that wouldn't turn a blind eye to anyone that was killing as many of the rotten things as they can.

Is carp edible?
In Europe it is highly regarded, but I've tried it and if you rearrange the a and the r thats what it tastes like, imo

I have been pulled up twice now by the local rangers and their response was to just tell me to pack it up and leave. They aren't interested in the hassle of prosecuting you for shooting a feral pest especially when they can see that is all you are doing. I do it in mostly out of the way places and I am sure that if I started doing it down the main basin of Lake Burley Griffin I would be fined the max.

We have eaten carp I have caught in the clean water out at the Cotter, and as long as I just take off the fillets without cutting into the guts they taste fine. But if I have to smell their putrid insides then I just can't face carp on my plate, no matter how well prepared.
