hunt or be hunted

Hey guys
I have been trying to shoot a rabbit with my new bow for a couple of weeks now. things have gotten (a word?) tough out here, normally i would head out knowing that i would get a bunny and usually end up with two. ever since it has become nice and green the bunnys have started mating and are REALLY toey so getting within 30m is a good challenge, believe it or not.
tonight i headed out once again to try for a bunny. it was raining a fair bit but i needed to get out. i walked and looked at the usual bunny hide-outs but none were to be seen. i quietly made my way through the creek, with the rain hitting the dry leaves it muzzled the sound of my footsteps making walking a dream. i came to the end of the creek and walked out and onto the flats. the sticks, bark and leaves were all soggy so they were quiet under foot. not many rabbits could be seen and i assumed they were all in the thicker stuff, keeping out of the wet. so i planned my way around to the thick stuff. i crossed a fence and carefully walked across the open ground until i came to another fence, i got over and was looking for a bunny that might be sheltering in a bed i know of. i had a quick look and yep, there was a bunny huntched up keeping warm, i kept looking at it while i walked out further and drew my bow, i then stopped walking, turned around and lined him up from 8m. before i released i noticed a thick branch covering the rabbits chest so i crouched down to get a clear shot, i then placed the pin and released THWACK! (love that word!) and the bunny roled out of its bed, a nice clean kill.
i found a semi dry spot to quickly set the camera up for a photo

It was getting dark and wet so i headed home and gave the ferrets a feed.
lets hope now that because Ross has tasted blood that it will be addicted:D
Thanks for reading
Dan.
