Well when we went back to see if we could find the stag i got (yes i'll say got) whilst glassing were he may or may not be saw two stags.

1. Stood up at 60yds from his bed and then trotted off; about 26" long as the beams were past his shoulders, but when he turned in the trot and gave us his bum he was as narrow as his body. Very much like TV antennae close together. Sorry no pics of him just his bed.

2 This one i'll nickname "buff", as that is what the newbie thought of him! Although he is the size of a small moose (need the shock smiley) having had a few people as well as myself look at him he is about 30" long (maybe an 1" either way) but at least 36" wide!!!!!!!! Has shanghai/yabbie tops and is fresh out of velvet. Watched him for 90mins, eat, rub, thrash, stare, sleep, chew cud, etc etc. He was 600yds and in no danger. I am guessing this is his last good head before going back, he lives in the harshest terrain which i guess how he got so fat and lived so long. It would take a serious hunter to be able to go and hunt him on his turf cliffs all around etc. However now he has rubbed out he will start wandering in search of the ladies...... time is on the hunters side right now!

Are you saving him up for a client Chris, or are you going to have a go with the longbow?

If i get the chance i'll take him with a longbow, it isn't like you can "save" a wild sambar. For all i know someone has shot him???? I am sure there will be a few people interested in a stag of this quality, but he isn't a walk up an arrow animal, he is very much how i would expect a Thar or Chamois to be hunted...... everything against you a real challenge animal!

I am sure he will evade 90% of hunters mate, he doesn't get to his prime by being easy :)
Is the area hunted heavily?

So true, well I am not sure about the hunting pressure. The deer are not hard to access or should i say not far off the tracks but they are bedding in the open and feeding like deer that haven't seen pressure...... ? When you are down if you want we can go for a hunt ....... no wheels though ok LOL
