Hey people,
Its been a while since I have posted any story's or pics, But Like they say a faithful dog will always return to its owner :) So here I am lol
I recently moved back to the property for a short break from working and preparing my self for the hard work ahead of me going into the NSW Police academy... Should be fun ;)
I thought what better an opportunity to get some hunting in while I'm here, So I tuned the old bow up and had a few shots to see if I still had the touch ... turns out I do lol.
Anyway ... me and my brother Mat (who just recently received his new Martian Jaguar Bow) Thought we'd head out for a hunt. We decided to give the old goats a rest and agreed that we'd try for a fox or two. after a 15 min drive we came to a patch of rabbit burrows... we decided as the day was still young we would have a crack at a rabbit .... neither of us had ever shot a rabbit before and we didn't really have that much confidence in shooting at a target that is so much smaller than a goat which is what we are both used to lol. well we stalked into these rabbits and not havin much experience let loose our arrows about 30 m away, both our shots were only cm from there targets to our surprise so we agreed that we'd take some cover and have another go once they had come back out of their hole's. We both climbed nearby trees as to get a better advantage point knowing that if we missed our targets the arrows would stick into the ground and not shoot of into the long grass. 5 min later I see my brother signal to me that a rabbit had appeared outside its hole, he signaled that he didn't have clear shot and urged me to take it. I drew my bow and placed the pin on the rabbits chest, I let loose, and to my great surprise hit the rabbit square in the chest the arrow exiting through its rear quarters, the rabbits adrenaline aided it to shoot down the whole. i jumped from the tree placed my bow on the ground and sprinted to the spot where the rabbit disappeared, to my surprise the hole only went about a meter before re-emerging and there was the rabbit, laying expired in the exit of the hole, I pulled it out and the feeling of great satisfaction swept over me ... I had shot my first rabbit and from a shot that seemed imposable at the time. well from then on i have caught the bug and have shot another 3 since then. My brother was unsuccessful but did manage to call a wandering fox in and pin him through the chest, this was the first fox with his new bow and made him very happy with his new purchase.
Here are some pics of my bunnies and the fox that my brother bag'd :)
thanks for reading
Mitch ;)
