Ok so my 6yr olds birthday is coming up and he has been on his best behaviour with the promise of his firs Bow as a present.
After a bit of looking around I have settled on this one.

I took him to the guy I deal with and we fitted him up. The rig seems to have plenty of easily made adjustment to fit a growing boy and Tim thinks it’s cool so I think we have a winner.

Looks good Clemo - a lot flasher than my first bow (all those year ago). We'll have to keep a lookout for some pics of him raising terror amongst the hares and rabbits and things - and then snatching deer out from under this old man's nose.

Yeh, no doubt I will have to take a back seat for a while but it will be great seeing him get onto some game of his own. God knows he has been patiently watching me for some time now.
The hunting will have to wait for a bit though until we get him shooting well enough to have a crack at some small game.

Clemo- great to hear that you're passing on the tradition. Also good to know that your little bloke is the patient type, too- I'm sure he'll make a top apprentice.

I bought the same kit from Eagle archery for $255 plus postage for my young fella.

The first thing I did was replace the rest with a WB and took the quiver off and get some shorter arrows (jazz 1214's)

The young fella loves it, and for a "first bow" it is nice and quick.

The only issue I have with it now is that the cam timing is a bit out and at the moment I couldn't be bothered retiming it as my young fella is only 3 &1/2 so accuracy is not too good at the moment

Yeh I was a bit sus on the rest and thought a W/B would be just the ticket for a goung bloke but I will see how it goes, we will conserntrate on the basics befor we get to carried away with all the addons.

I have the same plan, but the rest is plain useless. I was going to get a bowtech capture rest, but for the really small arrows it wont work.

See how you go with it and I hope you have better luck with it (it may be useless because my young fella is half the age of yours.)

Looks good, before you know it you will posting a pic of him with his first harvest.

Heres my son all those years ago with his first pig.

If you need some ideas on lightweight broadheads later on let me know, I may still have a few of Bens small carbons in the shed with mini-BH's on them.

Thanks mick, I have been thinking about what broad head to use when we get to hunting. Was thinking 85gr would be the go, I would imagine broadheads in that weight wouldnt be very common.
I bet your young bloke was grinning from ear to ear after his first pig. Thats what its all about.
