Im using a soft case at the moment thinking about purchasing a hard case, just your basic single bow Plano $110. My question is what do people prefer hard or soft cases?

I would Buy a double hard case if I was you, especially when using aeroplanes you can pack it with clothes and etc to prevent accidents and it substitutes as a second bag. Buy a quality one from the beginning.

Any tips on good cases, brands that are good and brands to stay away from?

Im no expert mate..but i had my target rig in a soft case and stressed everytime i moved it...i now have a Plano 1111 Hardcase....far safer IMO...esp if you have exp sights/scopes....and you can lock it with a padlock....my only drawback /suggestion is when fitting the velcro securing straps in your prefered position..place a large flat washer over the strap before fitting the push nuts...this will prevent the eyelet pulling thru if strap is secured too firmly....and as Howie suggested a double bow case is great for the extra room...im very happy with the Plano..but its the only hardcase ive owned so i cant compare it to any others...

I was in the same position as you...bit the bullet and went a hardcase. Have NOT looked back. Throw it in the fourby and forget about it!

Buy the hard case.

I reckon the Plano 1111 for $125.00 is a great deal.

Thats top info Howie, I was looking at getting a hard case for travel but didnt even think of getting a double to stash clothes and stuff in.
Cheers for that.

I use a SKB double bow case and absolutely love it! It has stood the test of time, especially with all the international flying I do. I would highly recommend a good quality case as this anyday of the week. It sucks get there only to find your bow a mess!

I use the SKB Double too iamyourhuckelberry :)

BUT, I have a NEET soft (with padded sides) bow case and it get's used for about 95% of the time.

Only use the SKB on BIG trips or plane rides :)

Like others have said, go the hard case. Store, lock and forget. Peace of mind when travelling is priceless IMO.

Doskill was bought out by Plano so I dont know if anyone has any more of these. We purchased 20 of them and they sold our very quickly less than 2 weeks if I remember correctly.
We now have the Planos back in stock...

Indeed they are.
The last one I purchased (SKB Freedom) cost me around the $300.00 mark.
It was the toughest case I ever owned but I had to replace the cheap locks every year:eek:
Here is a link to thier archery cases for your viewing pleasure;)

Clemo, see what I have done for you, and what do I ask in return, to shoot a few measley 40 inch goats.
When I went overseas, you were allowed to take 2 bags, by getting a double you can take two bows or pack it with clothes, spare arra and all the gear you need.

I've had both hard and soft case and definatley prefer the hard case. I hit another car at about 80kmh when he turned in front of me and had my bow in the back in its Plano pillar lock hard case. Although the impact did move the sight a little no other damage was done, it would have been a lot worse if it had been in a soft case.
