Took a run last weekend out to the property Id left the trail cam at a few weeks ago. Sort of spur of the moment trip. The job I took on to have more time at home has turned out to be as busy as my last place of employment. Iv told them if my work load doesn't slacken off then Ill be off to look for another job.
Anyway. On previous trips we hadn't seen much sign but we left the camera set up just to see what if any thing passed through.
On arrival we set up a rough camp and checked out our gear before heading off on the 40 min walk to the camera.
I just purchased some Predator camo and tried it out on the walk. I only had the pants on in this shot but they seemed to blend in well with the grass ect.

We found the swamp we located last trip and started to walk its edge with the wind in our faces.

I walked out wide while Keith followed the edge. About 5 minutes into the hunt Keith called me on the 2way to say he had spotted a small pig walking towards him. I asked how far away it was and he ranged it at 60 mtrs. So I headed over to see if we could get some video or a few pics. I had just arrived and asked where he last seen it when a good size pig appeared out of a melon hole 15 mtrs in front of us. Keith got ready with his bow and I got the video camera.

The shot looked good and the pig took off back the way it had come taking several others with it we haden't even seen. Keith walked over to find his arrow. It had plenty of blood on it and we were sure it was a well placed shot. Iv watched the vid in slow mo several times and you can just see the arrow on impact tight behind the shoulder quartering away.
We waited for a while giving the pig time to bleed out before heading off in search of it.

Keith followed the pad the pig left on and I walked wide again.
All of a sudden there was a good size boar standing 40 mrts in front of me. He also walked out of a depression in the ground. I froze as he looked up at me. We had a bit of a stand off while he kept putting his nose up in the air trying to smell any danger. Mean while I had nothing to use as cover so i just had to wait it out. He eventually decided not to take a gamble and turned and walked away. I decided to let him go and concentrate on finding Keiths pig. Well try as we might we could not find it. We returned the next day for the same result.
We did catch up to the boar and the rest of the mob but they winded us and disappeared in no time.
So we made a b-line to the camera. I was sure we would have some good footage to watch.
Well about 30 or 40 mtrs away from the camera I could see it had been moved . BLOODY cattle. This is the second time the nosy buggas have moved it.
Heres the big boof head who moved it.

I got two vids of a feral cat one day,one night. Three of the boof head bull moving the camera and 486x 15 second videos of a tree top swaying in the wind.
At first I was a bit peeved that the batteries had run flat but on discovering they had lasted for 491 clips I was much happier.
The next day we reset the camera at a different location. Fingers crossed the moos dont get fresh with it this time. Iv set it for still shots this time.

Not long after we set the camera and continued along the swamps edge Keith once again put his hand up to signal a pig had just walked out of the long grass in front of us about 25 mtrs away. As it walked into my view I decided to have a go at it. I came to full draw and as I was trying to settle myself down Keith warned me a pig was about to walk out of the grass behind me as he could see the grass moving. About 3 seconds later a pig walks out about 2 or 3 mtrs behind me. Lets just say things turned pear shaped real quick. I missed the shot and several pigs took off in all directions after the shot. I was pissed I missed the shot but had a bit of a giggle later on when we were talking about it.
No more pigs seen for the rest of the walk but we will be sure to return for another go just as soon as I get more time off work.
Thanks for reading.
