Well had my bow ready to put the finish on it had it about 70# and was shooting really well. On friday arvo was having some shots with it and the teacher was getting some action shots and then next thing! BAM the wood delaminated off the handle and snapped the bow in half! well to say i was dissapointed was an understatment! so looks like i am just going to be a wheelie man instead of having a bit of trad as well. Well thankyou all who made this possible and adam would you like your string back it worked really well for the 50 odd shots i had with it but now i dont have a use for it.

Mate, your first attempt looked a beauty, dont give up. just apply what you learnt in your first project and you'll more than likely come up trumps.

Macka,
Dont give up. Remember anyone can shoot a bow. Not everyone can build one (me included).

Hey Maca don't look at it like that, you made something that a lot of us only dream about doing. You would have learnt a lot about making a bow, don't give up,use the knowledge and make a better one.

Yeah i will attempt another one one day but for now i will leave it alone. Thanx to glenn and adam it cut the cost for me but it was still $120 down the drain and i think i'll wait a while before i try it again. The worst thing is that if i had just made the glueing surface on the handle rougher to help the glue bond then it would probably be still with me now. Ah well i will try again.....one day...

Bad luck Macka, looks like you were on the right track. I bet the sound as it snapped just about broke your heart.

Lessons learnt, good luck with your next effort mate ;)

Hey thanx guys but i dont have enough time atm to try another one what with school working and tafe. So when i save up some more money i might just buy a recurve and get into the trad like that but for now its just the wheels. Might try making another one again one day though.
