This if for the bowhunters that live in or around Perth, im just wondering where u guys get your hunting related gear from locally, gear like camo and other accessories and how far do u usally travel to go for a hunt for me at the moment i have to travel for about 3-4 hours to get to a good hunting location

and where abouts do u live, i live in Sawyers Valley

any info would be awesome

g;day mate, ir seems that if ya wana get some medium sized game around perth, you really have to work hard for it, as you say maybe traveling 4 hours or so north or south.

Hi mate

I do the vast majority of my "basic" shopping from Hoddeywell, they have a great over the phone order system. I have purchased camo off EBay and bows and arrows from this sites sponsors.

As for game, I have rabbits and foxes 20 minutes away (not that I can hit the buggers) and chase pigs about an hour east (again, I said chase) whilst I have a goat spot (thanks Derek) about 5 hours north. I have been offered a property waay down south where the owners have seen deer!!!!! Yet to get a chance to suss that out (cant even hit a damn fox, let alone face down a deer). I however, am not even close to an expert...Im sure some of the more knowledgeable Perth hunters have a far better idea than me! Oh and Im in Mullaloo, north of the river, on the coast.

ok this i great info, i know where i can find pigs if i ever get permission from the owners, but i know where i can get rabbits, foxes and the occasional cat (although i've never had the chance of getting one) but they are about a 3 hours drive north

and you're a hellava lot closer to Hoddywell than us in the city.

deer, i never knew about that, i can guess where i can get pigs around the weir but i need the ranger or calms permission to do so (i dought they will let me), i'll have to ask around alot to get rabbits and foxes cos i believe their all on private property if thier in other places i wouldn't have a clue where to look,

we have had foxes at our place before they killed about 20 of our chooks, but theirs no chance of me getting them cos they come at night and i havent got a clue where to go

where about are the deers and the pigs

Not perth, but busselton. Rabbits and foxes 15 minutes away, Pigs and potentially deer 30 min away and a mix of rabbits, foxes, pigs and cats about 2.5hrs away.

Best thing to do when looking for places to throw arrows is to make sure your getting good at hitting your target first, then go and approach people. Be honest and true about everything. We do alot of fox whistling so the foxes come to us. As for camo gear, I usually order off cabelas.

Put in the time Sankey and you'll find them (i've already almost given you a gps position).

That's what it's all about after all - talking to property owners, looking for sign etc - that's half the hunt. big effort - but worth it when when you get the reward (and doing it all under your own steam makes that reward so much sweeter).
