Ok boys and girls, who can shed some light on this mess.
A friend of mine went hunting on land he HAS permission to shoot on.
Saw a fox,let rip, missed, went looking for his arrow (gold tip) couldent find it,
went home.Sad boy
Went to SIDNEY on work for the week, came home ,a message on the phone from
the land owner, please dont come back.
Had to find out whats up doc.
Rang land owner to be told ONE of HIS arrows was in one of said land owners sheep, which
survived,
Mortified he insisted on a meeting, yep his arrow alright, the one he DID NOT FIND.
Guilty, not so bows and girls.
The day he hunted ALL REPEAT ALL of the sheep were in a shed (vet visit) so a missed shot gone wrong is out(which the farmer agrees)
the rest of the week he was in Sidney on work(while the sheep were out)
So this leaves only a couple of options
1 some one found the lost arrow and shot it out of their own bow
2 Same as above but they stabbed the sheep with it????
Question is should some one find YOUR ARROW and cause harm with it WHOSE FAULT IS IT
Yours for LEAVING a sharp object behind or theirs

There are many more options one of which is the arrow could have stopped in such a way that the sheep was able to walk into it, I have heard of a bowhunter doing exactly that.
There must be thousands of arrows laying in the bush, I remember hunting a well hunted goat property and every trip if you walked off the tanks into the scrub looking for a lost arrow you would never find yours but walk back with 2 or 3 others lost by other hunters.
If your really concerned stick to steel BH's as they will rust up and break down a lot quicker then stainless.

just to go off topic a little bit,a new member of our club was sighting in his bow in a vacant paddock and lost one of his arrows in the grass. He went out after dark with a black light torch and his arrow stood out like a beacon because the fletches were fluoro colours.Might be something to put in your back packs. You can buy fairly small torches like this
Hey Patbowtech, has anything like this happened to you? Damn sounds like some bad luck!
Would love to see some pics of the hunt with your kills from your Bowtech :)
I often worry about lost arrows or were they may turn up to be precise. It would be quite easy for an animal to impale itself on one. Sounds like that’s what happened.

If it impaled itself it would be in the millions or even billions to one chance animals arent that stupid otherwise they would have sticks and other things poking out of them. No I smell a rat or some other human intervention..

Ditto...maybe your mate did shoot it, albeit, possibly accidentally, and didn't want to "fess up"...after letting hunters onto my property several bullet holes mysteriously appeared in my water tanks..that was the last time any rifle shooters have ever set foot on the place, unless they're personal friends.....
i have personally seen cases when someone shot, missed and lost an arrow which turned out to be sticking in the ground 45 degree angle but wasnt found untill it went through someones leg when they were running... maybe the sheep ran into it like that... but it is nock first then...

My mates stock horse which I believe to be a lot smarter the sheep drove a star picket into its left upper leg leaving a large gapping wound a few weeks ago, IMO its not that big a stretch for an arrow to stop with the broadhead facing up and a mob of sheep pushing one unlucky one into it.

All is well here, a local chap came foward and fessed up to the mess.
He is known to the land owner he does not shoot bows himself but hangs out with
a chap who shoots.

pretty sad that some one would do that then take the quickest flight out of the area with out owning up to it. the most frustrating thing is not the fact the sheep was hit, but the fact thet he didnt come forward and tell the farmer. good thing it is all sorted out though.

What a debacle... so was the fella let back on after it was proven/confessed that he wasn't at ultimate fault?
