With nothing to do on Sunday, me and Rory decided to head out to our goat property.
When we arrived we couldn't see any goats up around on the tops, so it was an energetic start to the day when we spied a mob deep down in the valley, and began the steep decent.

After about an hour of decending, we covered the last bit of ground and Rory put a nice shot in on a nanny from 30m putting her down:)

We walked along a bit more and spotted a mob of goats at the top of one of the big hills on the place, seeing as we hadn't spotted any other goats, we decided to climb back up and have a try at them.
The goats were moving around on the top of this hill

After a steep ascent, I made my way in on a nice little eater, and sent an arrow his way, taking my 2nd goat with the longbow.

Rory followed up with a nice shot, also taking a nanny down, (you can see the shale slide and hill we came down over Rorys shoulder)

We then began the hard walk out, laden down with meat and were both glad to get back to the car and drop off the meat and rest up a bit.
We had a few more stalks in on mobs of goats but it just didn't happen for us.
It was good to get out again though;)

That's part of it Shane. We also try and plan out the whole stalk from the first sighting, and pick a target animal (maybe a lone nannie - chamois size ;) ) (sometimes maybe a 40+ meter shot) and make the shot count if possible. :)

Nice going there boys once again. That place really produces the goods. Just don't go tumbling down one of those cliffs.

That was the plan Shane, we are going to hunt it heaps when we get closer to going, and start to take bigger and heavier packs with us, to get in shape a bit better.
Dan,
We saw one nice billy up on one of the steep heavily timbered hills, but by the time we got up to where he was, we weren't able to locate him, so he lived to fight another day.
And Pete, we actually were saying as we went down on of the steep hills, that these were the hills that wrecked your knees:o there sure is some steep country there, we quite often were hanging onto trees to get ourselves down the hills without having a bit of a roll;)

Nice work boys,

Sounds like you earned each kill twice over. That scree slope looks dangerous to say the least.

Have the same problem Howie, a good soaking in cyder generally sorts the stiffness out though.

Sorry about seeing the mug mate, I wasn't 'striking a pose' after those climbs! LOL

PaulR, it is the ASAT Fanny pack. I like it as it 'free's' up my back as I did used to get a stiff back from the up/down hills climbs. I still do, but not as bad I feel.

I also plan on using it in conjunction with a separate 'camel back' bladder, being able to carry more litres than the regular intenal bladders. ;)

It is a sweet feeling conquering those cliffs, as it makes less steep properties seem a doddle.
