Went out to see if the bow and i was still in line and this was my first 3 shots from 20m using supreme broadheads. it was a bit windy but it is windy when hunting to. The circle around the outside of the rabbit is the size of a cd.
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b255/Mackadebowhunter/group.jpg

And here's a pic of my target and me shooting. i'm on a farm and i have plenty of large hay bails to play with but i put it out in the saltbushes to add give it some bush feel.

benhohnke

benhohnke
27-12-05, 10:46 PM
and most of the time if you look care fully in the pics my other arrows are on the ground behind me i normally just place the arrow that i killed the animal with in the quiver. its just a habit.

This isn't really the same coz it's only from 10m in the backyard but i shot this group the other day with just a peep (no pin sight yet).
I've only been shooting for a few weeks but what do you think? The blue spot under the tape is the inside of a coke bottle lid.

Woodstoka, I'm using a Martin Lynx Magnum compound on about 75#. Getting a Toxonic stock dog to get me started.

Coach, shooting fingers. Puk just got me a glove through PeterM.

30-03-06, 04:46 PM
Just with a peep!! Jeez, next it'll be without training wheels

 :D Kiddin fellas, each to his own. :D

Hefty
30-03-06, 04:50 PM
Thanks Coach. My only problem is consistency. The shot just before this group went high and right. It just missed the rubber backed carpet square and the cardboard didn't stop it from driving straight on through into the bessa (spelling?) brick fence behind and punching the point up inside it
I'm trying to console myself by reminding myself that that shot was the first with the new glove.

Yo Junior bowhunter, damn nice shooting. Nice bow too! Just outta curiosity how many bodyboards does it take to stop an arrow? And what draw weight are you shooting at them?

Bloomin good shooting from the rest of you guys too, I know a lot of people (probably me too) who would be put to shame by you guys, can only get better from here.

Cheers Paul

saberhunter

wazza_X force
09-04-06, 07:18 PM
its awesome, and its heaps smoother and quiter than the old one but im having trouble sighting them in properly, so im not consistent yet... i could probably use a hand seeing as how well u sighted in the old one.

Hey Steely did you miss the top one in the middle? It looks like it and that is why you covered it with the bow.(Which is ALMOST as nice as a Mathews)Also how big are the circles you shoot at they look about 4 inches would that be right? Now you have opened a can of worms mate I havent shot my compund for months but it came out today and it was good to be back. Now I will need to bring TWO bows when I come to see you. :D
Cheers KIM

31-07-06, 08:02 PM
KIM KIM KIM :o

Your killing me , Matthews would love to be able to build a bow like this !!

They are 40mm same as the indoor Champ targets in LA , The lads that compete at that show can keep every shot in them at 25 when they are on song (I can some days) but not all day like they can.

I like to shoot these nail drivers , my Trykon at 70lb with hunting arrows would keep up with this bow as well , that thing is as sweet a bow as has been made by anyone , but she prefers horns and hide to cardboard

If your heading up for a Chital mate I wouldnt leave your compound at home first trip.

Kimall
05-08-06, 02:22 PM
Thanks Steele on the tip of 40mm dots its a bit like shooting at a blank bale and is good for the form. :D :P Mate do you have one of the stars and stripes release aids to match the bow and your shooting glove.

Ben,,,,,,,,,that shooting from 35m is pretty good in front of my eyes considering the distance...
For me I shoot yards, as you know and 35m is a fair bit further than 35yards and my grouping from just 30yards isn't to flash at the moment.......i probably wouldn't be able to hit one of those bottles from 30 yards at the moment  :? :D

Kickstarting a bit of an old thread, but after reading Puk's post about anchoring points, I've started paying more attention to mine, and I've finally started getting some decent groups.

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j55/Viking_Cop/Picture058.jpg
This is from 20m, and the dots are just a bit smaller in diameter than a can of beer (hmmm, beer...)

It's probably not impressive to anyone but me, and it was with some hesitation that I posted the picture, seeing some of the groups on this thread, but I'm happy with it. My bow was made probably before a lot of the contributors on this site were even born, so I'm aware of it's limitations; that's why I'm happy with it.

I can't see myself getting these groups at 50+m like some of the guys on this site, but I guess that just means I'll have to work on my stalking.

Of course, the downside to getting better groups is hitting the other arrows, and since I've started only shooting broadheads (Bonebreakers), they cut the fletches of the other arrows when the groups get too tight. I also I broke the nock on one of my new carbons tonight :? . Does anyone have any advice on how to get it out to put a new one in? I know I can't just heat the shaft up as I can with alloys.

Also, does anyone have any tips on how to hold the bow steadier? It's not as if it's waving all over the place, but I'm just trying to hold it a bit more on target. Probably a stupid question, but is there a trick to it besides obviously more practice?

Cheers,

Viking
