Well, after looking forward to this weekend for quite some time i must say i was alittle dissapointed with my final resuls.
I was on an 8000 acre property near Araluen (southern nsw) hopefuly to find a few deer..... instead it was like Pitt Street in the centre of Sydney with 30 horseback campers, about a 50 strong 4wd club, 20+trail bike riders and a bunch of 6 yobbos with BIG guns that when i first found them were heading up the gully where i'd found deer sign previously... they put off a few shots so i thought they must have had some luck... well they shot a 'sparrow' apparently  (some poor little native bird i guess).
So i saw literaly NO ferals whatsoever and covered many k's... :(
Hope u guys had better results. Let me know  .
Cheers Cam

Went out after some goats, but due to the chopper going through recently all that i saw was a lone kid. Pretty disappointing considering you usually see hundreds without having to walk to far!
I had a great long weekend, went up into the snowy mountains caught some trout, hunted some bunnies and relaxed 8) this is a little trout jumping http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/amozza/DSC_0066.jpg

I went out over Easter a couple of times just to look for a mob of goats and get a bit of shooting practice in. I need the practice because this w/e I hope to get me a fallow stag. :D
I rang the farmer tonight and there is 5000 acres to hunt in and I am sharing the place with 2 other bowhunters. He is sure we will be able to keep out of each others hair. I have my patch all figured out (I think?) and I am hanging to have a go.

Bit of a shame about the place you were on. How did you manage to end up on such a popular place?

Im still not sure how so many people got access to the same property on 1 weekend. I was honestly worried someone was gonna get shot
I know the yobbos with the guns as they have been there before and am amazed who they give gun licenses to. These guns were so loud ( i forget what calibre) that when they came to our camp to show off their 'shooting skills' i told them to let us all know so we could block our ears. 1 time one of them didnt tell me and shot too close to my ear.I snapped and told him again to let me know when he was going to shoot,so he tells me he was going to shoot so i stuck my fingers in my ears and watched, then realised he was aiming on a 45 degree angle up into the tree tops so i asked him what he was aiming at to be told 'im trying to hit that top branch'   ... to which i questioned if he was 'f-ing stupid' ... his reply was 'yeah i spose i shouldnt shoot up in the air' ....
I will be having a quiet word to the owner when he returns from overseas.
It took them quite some time to hit the cans they set up so i grabbed my bow and hit a coke can from 50 meters (i surprised myself but never let on) with my first shot, then just sat back down with a cool grin 8)

Only took a couple of Bunnies.
The owner of the 'New" property that I was going to have a look at was away all Easter so I couldn't get on to have a look.
Left it too late to ring him as I won't go on a property unless I let the owner know in advance.

I got a week away from work prior to easter, had a look for a few pigs oneday but only saw sows and small boars so let them go, but the place had been spooked by a chopper aerial shooting.
Spent a day chasing some goats and shot a 34" billy and my brother shot a 30" billy within 30 seconds of it. i'll write a story and post a few pictures in a day or two.
plans fell through for chasing a few fallow on the property we were going to go to, but i spent a few mornings chasing a few local deer and managed to watch a small 2nd year head and a spiker strut their stuff before the bigger bucks give them a whippin' once the rut starts. i took a few pictures of rub trees and scrapes that i will post also
