Hi Everybody

I was just wondering that in the traditional forum chat thingy nearly all people were sayin that its bad ethics to shoot something like a pig (if i can remember correctly) . Well Graham Cash say's in October/November issue of bowhunting down under that a young fella who had a 35lb compound bow could be able to harvest boars. Now I have a 35lb recurve I shoot and I was just wondering is it just your own code of ethics do you make the judgement on what you beleive becasue cashy obiviously reckens that the young fella could take a boar with his bow and I was just wondering is it the public who says what you can or can't shoot or what with or is it the person who beleives what he can or can't take im not sure to as who to belive.

Thanks anyway Michael

Blokes with Much more experience than you think that 45# is a little light for pigs, and so who are you to not believe them?
In the magazine you are quoting is a story with Glenn Newel in it and he would know as much as there is to know about how traditional bows work. He was using a 45# bow he made himself and he was quoted as believing he would have to get really close to be able to take a pig with it.

I would expect that a 35# recurve would have to be used by someone of exceptional talent if it was to be used to take pigs.

I think that at 35# it would be possible to kill a pig , however the margin for error would be too great.
An arrow from a 35# bow would only need to connenct to bone and it would all turn to putty. :(
Small game like rabbits would be fine, but wait until the poundage is higher for bigger game like pigs, because if it does go wrong I think it's fair to say you could be in greater danger then the pig.
IMO

really all u need to do is think of the poundage of a bow to be like the calibre of a gun , for example a .22 is not considered a pig calibre since it is not heavy or powerful enough , this is like a light poundage bow , and a .308 would be like a 70lb bow , understand?
