Headed into the hills on saturday with my new bowtech Allegience to try and get its first kill. Managed to grass this bloke from 20 yards, i thought he was a bit better on the hoof, but was the best billy i saw all day. He gave me the slip in the morning in the dog wood, but i got back onto him and about 40 other goats in the arvo. With a strong wind and some exposed country it took me near on 2 hours to get the drop, each time i'd make a stalk, about 8 billy's including this fella would chase a couple of nanny's on heat the other direction.

I thought for sure he would be into the low 30's in terms of spread, but he was only a small goat and turned out to be 28 inches and around 80 Douglas points. Not a bad way to blood the new bow though!!

Sounds like a hunt worthy of a new bow, you wouldn't remember it the same if it was easy

Well done,

Dave.

Thanks guys, havent been out for a walk for a while, always nice.

Funny you say that coach as i spent a good two weeks trying for the elusive perfect arrow flight with a lot of head scratching in between. In the end and with the help of PeteM (thanks mate) i finally got the thing shooting OK, about the only arrow set up that seemed to be any good was the 5575 goldtips, with the vented blackstumpsbringing braodhead weight in at about 160 grains. I thought with the bow set on about 75 lbs that the 7595's would shoot better, but the tears in the paper still said that the arrows were too stiff. Being a purely speed bow, it seems very unforgiving to bad form, which it seems i have as arrow flight got a ****load better when i shot with an open hand and a sling.

Glad i seem to have it sorted out now though.

Cheers

Hey congrats on the first blood of your new bow.

He looks a lot bigger than 28" mate i can see how you thought he'd go low 30's still an awsome goat.
