G'day all,

I was inspired after reading the bino thread - I doubt this will be as long but here goes.

Who here has a NV unit?

Who's used one?

Can anyone reccomend something good. I've used a monocular old model with an IR Illuminatior. All I can say is poor. You have two lenses to focus and its just poor at the best of times. The NV side doesn't work in general nighttime darkness and poorly in moonlight. As for the IR - works alright but only a small spotlight.

I used it the other night to follow my dog around at a dist. of 10 meters in a very sparsly vegitated area. I lost him a few times due to focus issues - if you're not spot on..your target is in the dark. BTW he is BRIGHT WHITE - not some camo shade of puppy ;)

Idealy I'd love the binocular set with head straps that you can flip up out of ur vision.

Well thoughts please :?:

Cheers -

Tristan

Mate i have a monocular and although i rarely use it it's excellent, i can sit in my blind and watch game all night out feeding. On one occasion i watched Sambar calf suckling on it's mother.
I find it to be quite clear without and additional light and even better in the moon light. I do not use this for hunting only to observe the animals nocturnal movements and habbits it's amasing what you will see through out the night.

Not meaning to pry but I think yours sounds better than the one I used. Do you mind telling me the brand or cost? The one I was using was sub $300 I think.

i'm guessing that with night night vision you definately get what you pay for. there is certainly some pricey gear out there.
