Went for a hunt today at a friend of my fathers station an hour and a half from here. No mustering and no choppers but the numbers of goats are usually not very high. we fluked it this time with the goat numbers but had everything go wrong that can with stalks on big billies. but saw some respectable heads. I think i will have to go back to this spot as we saw som 30+ heads.

This first pic is me on a very good goat.. trouble is i ****'ed the shot somehow from 30m.. must have been nerves but i pulled it and it only just grazed the buggers back.. atleast he will be there next time i spose.

This is an image of him running off what sort of spread did i rob myself of you guys think?

Climbed some monster hills which always seems to happen and took some landscape pics as the country is very beautiful in a dry sort of way.

A couple more pics of just some billies with potential. we passed up some and were caught out on others.

I am drawing on the brown billy i got he is to the right of the rock.

This shows the billy and the yellow fletches dissapearing behind his shoulder. had to sneak the arrow between a few branches but from 20m it was a pretty straight forward shot.

and final result.

All in all it was a good day and i think i will nail a few TC goats out that way if i stick to the spot. My brother was after his first goat and we came within 10m a lot of times but he wasnt quick enough a couple and just too much scrub in between others. (wish i had my curve)

like to hear what ya think sorry if there are too many pics

I wouldn't think he was over 34 macka, but thats still a good trophy from that country brother. Next time mate, it wouldn't be fun if you got them all. You still kick yourself though hey.

Love the pictures mate, thanks for sharing.

thanx for the replies and compliments. yeah thats about what i was thinking. saw some other better than him just diddnt get any pics of them. Trying to hard to shoot them instead :D
Here is a wonky horn fella we passed in the creek he was onto us so we diddnt follow. But he would make a great trophy and he's not a bad size anyway!

Just a couple more some big boddied billies and a mob on the foothills.

Yeah your right coach out theere even the young goats are monsters in the bodies. the bases on the horns vary a bit but i have shot one with 10" bases out there with most 8 or 9" helps with the score i spose pitty they diddnt get more of a spread.

Good one Macka, I agree with the other fellas I reckon 33" or so would pull him up.

I find it interesting that when you look at the spread as they are facing away they appear to be a certain size in your mind, but when you get 'em they often aren't as big as you thought they were :D

Dunno about you, but my aim would now be to stay on "Wonkys" case, good challenge to pick one & concentrate on that, I reckon he would be an interesting trophy & along with the efforts to get him, make good coversation piece :)

Hey axe yeah when i saw him i'm like if not now your mine within the next year! He had a pretty bad limp too which put me off shooting him then might wait until he's fighting fit. I am always on the lookout for strange sets and he would have to come out near the top as one horn is really twisty.

I could have shot an even 34ish goat who was with this fella but i just had to have these wonky horns. i think the one i saw today were even wonkier tho. Found the 34" goat after the chopper had got it which was a bit sad. Just look in the scenery pics if i find him again i think i will be doing very well! But i'll make it a goal! :) He will look good next to the other one. just an idea how the hell do you mount the horns when they are like that. the one horn does a circle behind and under the head?? :?

I reckon that billy would be about 32" , give or take a few inches , hard to tell from a pic .
Those goats of yours sure do have some Body about them .
The pics are fine mate , even though I'm on dial up .
Well done AGAIN Macka :D
