Hey all,
please post any questions or comments you might have on the TBGA 2006 Game Tally here...
thanks
umm i diddnt really understand how we add to the tally?? do we post our own list and add to it after each successful hunt or?
Macka
just post what you got on a hunt, then a Management Team member will add it to the tally for you and DELETE your post from under the tally..
does that make sense?
I hoped it helped some mate

It must be stressed however that this is a tally only. It is not a competition, there are no goals to reach and in no way does the existence of this tally indicate that TBGA supports shooting for numbers sake only.
To stop this the members could just pm an admin member with there kill and then they could add it to the tally...

Yeah that .
If there is going to be any hand wringing over "scores" then it can be all left private. :?
On another aussie hunting forum we had a tally for the year and it was just a thread where we posted our kills and an admin added them to a spreadsheet. We can now all access the spreadsheet and we can use it to show others what a good job aussie hunters do. And it is interesting to check it out because it shows that regions that hunters live in really affects what game he shoots.

I don't think it's fair to load up one member of the Management Team (I think we'd have to nominate just one person in this instance to avoid confusion) with adding all the entries to the tally. I know it might not be that they'd be swamped by pm's or emails, however, IMO doing it this way shares the load out and means that any member can add the posts to the tally at any time. So it doesn't matter who is able to do it when, between the 7 of us, it will get done.
Having people put up their tally posts and then deleting them pretty much maintains anonimity anyways...I mean, who added in the rabbit? I bet only the person who posted it up can remember ;)
Just my thoughts...

I think we leave it as proposed, All the members do is imput their details of animals taken and we update & delete it probably within a couple of hours.
There is no recognition or comment to be made so there should be no problem. If you want to congradulate the hunter send them a PM if you see the post before we delete it.

it will be fine the way it is but
from jindys comments,
a record of the area the game was taken might also be usefull, maybe just by state or north qld, south qld, north nsw etc.
Yeah fair call, and if I remember correctly Mick did suggest it when we discussed the original concept in the Admin forum...I just forgot to sort it into what I put up here...
Sorry Mick.

Please reread the Management Team's policy on this matter:
The Management Team have discussed this issue and it is our position that until there is further and more precise clarification of this issue involving the citing of specific and relevant laws and legislations we insist on the adhering to the rules governing discussions and posts on TBGA.
Specifically: - Quote:
Discussion of hunting native or protected wildlife or domestic animals IS OUT!!! This is fuel for anti-hunters and will not be tolerated on this forum. We have been threatened with having our site shut down and legal action in the past for these kinds of posts.
To say that something is OK by law or legislation and to use TBGA to disemminate such information when NO hard proof or evidence is able to be found (supporting or defuting the point made) is fraught with risk that we are simply not willing to afford.
It has been recommended before on TBGA that opinion or heresay not be recommended as fact. In this case, due to the questionableness (? ) of said topic and the laws and legislations surrounding it, we believe that, as stated earlier, until hard proof of cited legislations and laws is found we will be recommending people do NOT shoot any bird in Australia, be it feral or native and again, insist that members do not use TBGA forums to disemminate advice, recommendations or opinion to the contrary.
The Management Team, in coming to this decision has, what we believe to be the best interests of Bowhunting and TBGA at heart.
Thank you for your understanding with this matter.
No they will not be added to the tally.
I'm not sure how that statement leaves people wondering.

I'm not sure how that statement leaves people wondering.
No law can be found proscribing the use of a bow to shoot mynas (or any other animal legally able to be hunted without permit), and they are not “native or protected wildlife or domestic animals”.
So of course people are wondering why you are taking the position you are.
As for the threats to the site of legal action. It is plain that an individuals posts are his own position and that individuals are not implicitly supported by the management of the website, so the threats of legal action would go nowhere. If you were really about the furthering of bow hunting and bow hunters rights you would stand up and support intelligent debate on the laws, but rather you seem sure the path to the future lay down the road of keeping our mouths shut and hoping the hard issues go away.
And Luke, deleting my posts (and without explanation) because you don’t like the discussion of ideas is pathetic.

For people interested in learning about mynas and the threat they pose to Australian wildlife you could check out this web page
http://wwf.org.au/publications/NTSD05_ACT_Factsheet
It is interesting to note also that the World Conservation Union has listed Mynas in the top 100 most invasive species in the world. Surely reason enough right there why you should do your best to stop their spread.
This doesn't actually affect me at the moment because I haven't shot anything to add to the tally but I've noticed that since the latest layout revamp the tally thread is locked.
I looked around to see if it explains where to enter new game taken now that we can't reply to the locked thread but can't see it anywhere. Could someone direct me(or anyone with new game to enter) to where it should be posted/sent?
Cheers!
Jono.

Hefty
We are just revamping the segment and it will be all up and running again in a couple of days.
Mick
Is this list with the numbers current or is it reset every year, or does it just keep adding up? e.g. 2004, 2005, etc if it just this years where is the list for the year before?
Pete,
if you read the opening explanation of the Game Tally you'll see that it's a new initiative for 06, meaning we didn't have one last year or the year before or before that or before that or before that ;)
It will end each year and start afresh to tally the animals taken each 12 month period by our members.
Hope that helps mate,
Luke :D

Not long to go for '06.
Please list any game you have taken this year that you have NOT already registered for the TBGA Game tally. :P
We'd like to have it as accurate a reflection of the game taken by TBGA members as possible but can only do it with your help!
