I have used a Summit climber on the Sambar but I am yet to use a ground blind. I would probably prefer the wall and not a tent type blind.

Anyone using these and if so what are your thoughts?

Its a hard choice, its great to be off the ground for scent reasons and deer don't feel danger from above.

But its great to be on the ground with all the action, and the freedom to stalk over to a animal that has passed the water hole etc.

the tent type is great because your fully concealed and can get away with a lot of movement.

Anyways I use the ameristep ground blind, not because its the best just cause I have one.

I read an article a while back about blinds. They guy who wrote the article gave a pretty convincing reason for preferring "pit" blinds. The greatest benefit that I could see, was by being low down he had an excellent line of sight into the most vulnerable part of the game animal's torso, for a good clean killing shot. They'd be a pain in the ass to dig though. Other benefits are, your smell is semi contained within the pit blind as the air doesn't pass through it.

I'd be interested in a tree stand, but they all seem too expensive for me. The postage on them from the US would be outragious too.

I've been toying around with the idea of converting my aluminium extension ladder and painting it up in camo colours. It would be a bit heavy and inconveneint to lug around in the bush though.

Is this the one you have Adam, it's the TrophyHouse blind.

This is one of the Eastman blinds with viewing windows so you dont have to look over the top.

Both blinds are about the same physical size, about 1m X 3m. This would be ample to cover you sitting on a waterhole or fox whistling.

A couple of Archery shops around Brissie sell camo sheets 12' x 4' around $40.

Have you tried something like those?
I am just wondering how much room there is in one to draw.

They are only 3 sided so you can put it out straight like a fence or wrap it around like it is shown.

The best thing is they transport like this:

Sportsmens Warehouse down the Gold Coast has a few different types like that.

My one is more of a teepee one for traditional bow shooting, still there a bit tight for drawing.

Sorry I don't have time to post pictures, heading up north.

i have an ameristep outhouse blind. i got it from cabelas for about AU$100 i think all up. its fine for the crossbow and compound, but probably too cramped for a trad bow. dont know for sure, but i was pushing for room with the compound.
mick, cabelas are pretty good with freight. i was looking a while ago and there was some tree stands you could get over here for well under AU$200

Thanks dave and humph
I have been thinking of a blind for a while now, it would be just the thing for the deer, but I don't want to spend too much on something that might turn out to be a dud.

hey jindy, heres a couple of links to some well priced blinds at cabelas.
a thing i think that needs to be taken into consideration is the dimensions of the blind. some may look heaps bigger than others but its usually not the case. shipping from cabelas i believe is 15% of the total order, or a minumum of 20$. if they have to send it the fancy way, (which they didn't on my blind) its i think 30% of the total order or a minimum of $30
