Hey!

Well I thought I better get in a steal a little of Adam«ÉŸs thunder and take some of his 15min of fame, not to much though, well done on your excellent trophy«ÉŸs mate!

I managed to take 3 deer this week myself, the young buck was on Monday afternoon and shot while feeding at 20 meters, but as I was looking for my arrow in the grass no more that 5 minutes after I shot him a much better buck walked out right on top of the little gulley I was standing in, managed to get a good look at him while he trotted off.

Now on Thursday I was back in the same gully and sneaking though the trees waiting see if they where going to grunt like on Monday. As I stood behind a suitable tree ready a willing I could see 2 bucks walking straight at me at 40 odd meters, they kept coming 30, 20, 15, and right at 10 meters they walked past! As they where only young buck's so I let them walk by, totally oblivious to my presence at any stage even after they past looking for does I think, they marked trees, freshened some small scrapes and kept walking as if they where late for a hot date, they ended up walking thought the gulley and over the rise behind me.

I moved though the trees a headed to where a know there are does normally feeding in the late afternoon, as I peaked over the rise to see a group of 6 does feeding out in the open and moving steadily forward, they were on a moving in a large ark and it looks like they might end up walking straight into me, so I took to one knee and waited, 2 min later they pop over the rise only to stop to look at some funny looking tree and the base of another tree, witch was me of course really me, but by then I was already at full draw and no more then 2 seconds after the lead doe stopped a arrow was gone and exiting completely though her body length ways! They all exploded off heading towards the bush to my left.

As I stood to get a better look on where the fatally wounded animal was heading I saw a good buck come walking straight out off the scrub from where the does had come from no more than 5 minutes ago, he headed straight a clump of small tress and started smashing them! I put another arrow on and made my way as quickly as possible as the light was fading very fast to a series of tree«ÉŸs so as to use them as cover to try close the gap, after carefully getting to the last of the big tree«ÉŸs, I was still 45 odd meters out and the light getting very low I decided the if I could get to a small tree out in the middle of the paddock I would only be about 35 max out, and this seemed like the go as he was still bashing the clump of tree«ÉŸs he was in to death so I took my chance! And at about half way there he busted me! One big grunt and he was off, I knelt down a drew, he stopped at what I thought to be 50 meter«ÉŸs to double check what he had seen out of the corner of his eye, that was a fatal misstate the arrow penetrated though his chest at broke his shoulder on the opposite side and downed the big fella on the spot, I moved in quickly and dispatched the buck with another arrow!

I inspected the buck I realized he was the buck that had busted us on Monday and I checked the distance that I shot him, it was 52 meters! I struggled in the dark to set up my camera for the self timed photos and caped the big fella out in the dark, that«ÉŸs not much fun, lucky my knife not that sharp!

Just to add to this post a tape was quickly run over the two bucks this better one going around 187 Dp odd and the pre-rut buck went 175 Dp odd for those interested.

See ya Pete.

Good one, That second buck has an alright rack on him.

There is nothing like being up close to a good buck, I wish last w/e I could have had your luck and got an arrow off.
You have to be happy with your setup when you can get a pass through lengthwise :D
