Hi Coach

Yes the letter was sent to me as I had been told that the Anti's are going to target bow hunting soon so I went looking for information.

I work in the chefing industry and one day we got told that we can not handle or cook any sort of shellfish or crabs, lobisters etc unless we have done a approved course on the humane handling of these things..... Mussels have feelings you know........ I do not know where the hell this s#$% come from, but we could do nothing about it now

The I lasted hunted big time was in the early 80's when you could do anything just about. But the system changes. Why? for the reasons you have given and many others.

But I work for a diffrent public sector than the GC, and the one thing I have learned about the public sector is they keep making new rules, system etc etc, but fighting them and winning is near impossible, So I get them to work for me. If we have some sort of input and we MAY end up with something that is usable if not we will end up loosing more than we already have.

I wish I could stop this madness, but I do not know how . So what do we do? I as I am new style of hunting. I have not any place to go I am not those in the "know".... I do not even have a place to get bunnies, so private or public land is all out of range, I have heard of Nat Parks that I can get to, but if you get found out its not good. So what to do.

Some sort of fight is better than know fight at all

1 of 3248 pertitions the Premiers office recieve back in 2001 when the 2001 game bill was put forward for objections.

Dear Premier Carr,

The NSW Government has introduced a Bill (Game Bill 2001) to allow the use of any firearm, bow, animal or other hunting device to capture kill or harm animals designated as 'game' or 'pest' animals. Furthermore, the Game Council will be managed by a majority of hunters.

We, the undersigned, are very disappointed that you have introduced a Bill (Game Bill 2001) that will not only allow the infliction of suffering on wild-living animals (classified as game, animals or pest animals), but which is likely to increase the number of animals subjected to suffering at the hands of both recreational hunters and misguided farmers. We urge you to withdraw the Bill immediately.

Notwithstanding our total opposition to the Game Bill, it seems amazing that the Game Council, with no animal welfare representation and total domination by the hunting organisations, is to be the arbiter of a code of practice for the hunters own behaviour towards the game and pest animals.

There are currently two reviews taking place in NSW - the Inquiry into Feral Animals by the Legislative Council General Purpose Standing Committee No.5; and the Inquiry into Vertebrate Pest Management in National Parks in NSW being conducted by Assoc. Prof. Tony English at the request of your colleague Bob Debus. Both reviews were seen as necessary after the brutal killing of goats on Lord Howe Island and wild horses in the Guy Fawkes National Park, the later of which is still the subject of cruelty charges brought by the RSPCA. Neither review has been completed, and it seems premature to propose the Game Bill at this time.

This Game Bill makes a mockery of the NSW Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and to the established principles of humane and effective management of mislocated and unwanted introduced animals. The hunting organisations seem to be trying desperately to hang on to practices that are outdated and unacceptable to a caring and humane society. It is regrettable that such a Bill could even be drafted, but we urge you to now simply withdraw it before the NSW Parliament moves to debate the issue . The Game Bill is based on flawed and outdated principles and would cause the unnecessary and brutal suffering of many millions of hapless animals in your State.

Please accept this petition to withdraw the Game Bill 2001 from the undersigned:

Who could care what she thinks

Local head of animal lib

And notice how international the petition is.

The NSW gov' is currently considering a policy of not accepting negative submitions by electronic means. Meaning that for people like ms seymour the mass mail outs will have to be done the old fashioned way

Thanks jindy,

You just made it to the top of the class ! ( please don't take that as condescending )

The exact point I tried to make in the other thread.
If we work on making it harder for these people to fill the People concerned email inbox with hyped up junk mail.
then we might "Might" have a go !

They rely on shock facts, we depend on facts.

No matter how you rationalise anything to those opposed to anything like these changes .

You will suffer less pain extracting your own teeth out your own anus !!

look what happens when you take the International names off one of the list !

well heres hoping the council reads the emails we have sent them. I sent one in myself because I figure that if it gets opened up in NSW there is more chance of it happening in other states.

The council (and the Minister) do read the submissions and the well written letters sent in by guys from this site and a few other Aussie hunting sites have impressed them. So much so that the pro-forma letters from the Anti brigade are now being treated as just one submission.

Jindy,

Mind if I ask how you are "in the know" on these matters?

Are you an assistant to some Ministerial Department?

Just curious.

Jindy,

Mind if I ask how you are "in the know" on these matters?

Are you an assistant to some Ministerial Department?

Just curious.

I ring them

They are more than willing to speak to anybody who rings and wants to know about issues affecting hunting in NSW.

They are making a real effort in the last 6 months to engage with the public and to be more forthcoming with info on what is happening and what the plans are for the future. It is a pleasant change from the canned responses we were getting in the past.

On the matter of submissions.
Governments both Federal and State have been talking for some while about setting guidelines for the acceptance of submissions that would see all electronic responses in the negative that are received on an issue be lumped together and be considered as one. Internet petitions and the like, where every Tom, **** or Harry from any country on earth can have a say on some regional issue have been rubbing them up wrong for some time.
In the Federal arena we have seen this recently with the inquiry into RU486. It was simply to look into why a government can take responsibility for the approval of this one drug away from the body that has that responsibility normally. The inquiry has nothing to do with what the drug does and that is not at issue, but the inquiry has been bombarded with **** from anti-abortion campaigners from around the world.

I am fortunate in that I have a job that allows me to spend a fair amount of time looking at current affairs.

any submission where the person has not taken the time to write it in their own words should be ignored, or lumped in with all the others written exactly the same. People who really care about the outcome are much more likely to express their individual concerns. Those that answer in a chainmail fashion or add their name to a list are like a mob and should not be considered as intelligent submissions.
