Im just intresed in some information about cammos.
What animals see what we see?
In colour? In browns In greys?
What animals can see the UV brightners im always reading about?

--------------------------------------------------

Also, how well can the Animals that we Hunt Smell us?
Rabbits,Hares,Foxes,Cats,Goats,Pigs,Deers ect?
Do i need to wash in Odorless powders just to hunt rabbits?
or Am i better off Using the Non-Uv brightners and odorless options anyways?

thats about it for now, thanks in advanced.

jay, I know that deer can see uv
not too sure about other animals though
If you can get your hands on a stoney creek catalouge they have some data of testing deers colour spectrum of vision, interesting reading :)

G'day Jay. We wash our hunting gear in lux soap flakes and bicarb soda and we always hang our clothes in the shade or inside to dry. It washes well and you do not stand out when hunting. Animals notice your clothes if washed in brightening detergents more when youre in the sun. Pigs don't notice a lot. They have a great sense of smell and hearing but only notice movement when close but dont seem to see the colour as much. With deer I think they are very clued on especially to brightness.

All personal opinion from experience. Hope this helps.

Cheers Jo

yeh - kinda. i guess if your using a real slow stalking type of walk it might actually help -never tried it though. its pretty loudish when you are walking faster.
perhaps the biggest problem may be that you dont know whats under it, but i guess there may be the potential to muffle any sounds to a degree.

Pat, Walcha is in the new england ranges in NSW. Our elevation is about 1360 meters above sea level. And no snow is not noisy to stalk in. It is extremely quiet. Its an absolute buzz to track a big boar for 2 or 3 km before you catch up to him except when they walk into a sheep paddock...Then it can be a bit hard.

Yeah Pat we're busting for deer season. Not long now. We do have red deer not far from here. Very hard to hunt though. Hopefully we'll do ok. Good luck with your deer hunting.

Jay. Rabbits, Foxes, Cats, Deer, Goats and Pigs don't see blaze orange. Bloody Crows do! I got busted fox whistling by a crow, 200m. away and 100m up! Smart li'l pricks.

Humans, primates and birds see colour. Deer, goats ,pigs, dogs, cats, etc. see in black, white, shades of grey or some (like deer) in the blue end of the spectrum. Its got to do with the rods and cones in the back of the eye that pick out colour.

Thanks guys,
A rabbit can see better to the side, behind or above.

Rabbits have a blind spot right in front of them.

Rabbits have very limited color vision. They can tell green from blue.

Rabbits can detect movement from long distances.

Your rabbit can see better than you do in dim light.

A rabbit will recognize your shape, smell and voice to get a picture of you.

(domestic rabbits but still relavent)
