well ive decided im going to try and trade the crossbow in and get myself a compound again. i only got the crossbow cause i had major tuning problems with my other compound. i found out the other day that was because the model i had was found to have weak/twisted limbs. it was also cause i thought i didnt have much time to practice. but it turns out i group better with my mates compound with 5 mins practice than i do with the crossbow  . it would also let me hunt dads mates huge property in wilcannia(?) nsw which is sposed to have stacks of hogs and is only a 7 hour drive from home.
im sure this will also make coach a happy man!
ive always felt that somethings been missing from my life since i stopped shooting compound, and i think ive found it again. :D :D
im thinking of a new model hoyt.
Now thats what i like to hear :D Best of luck with it mate u wont b turning back.

hey humphrey i know a guy who works in wilcannia who shoots a longbow who would be more than happy to come along for a look :)

now its time to really dissappoint coach.
i rang the store to get an approximate price on the trade in, and i was told they wouldn't take it, cause xbow sales have slowed to a big halt after the stupid legislation the state government introduced. no one wants to bother joining a club miles away and going through other hassles just to shoot
one. im one of the only ****s that did, and now its kinda backfired.
i cant justify forking out a grand or so on a new compound setup at the moment, so i'll persist in trying to find a suitable recurve, and maybe get a compound in a year or so, ready for next winter.
regarding wilcannia, i must admit i didn't look at a map. i was told its about an 8 hour drive from melbourne. simon, would it be true that theres a heap of hogs or goats there, cause dads mate tends to exaggerate?
and coach, once hunt boys out in the real world, he'll poo his little camo pants! :D
(no offence linc, but it does kinda suck once school finishes and work starts.)
Why not look at a second hand compound????Mozza's is a bargan and there are a few others about if you look around!!!

sparra,
when i do get a compound, i want to get a brand new, best of the best, straight off the shelf. im sure mozza's is quite a good bow, but when i shoot compound again i'll be wanting the best i can get, cause i plan on joining a club and shooting target/3d as well as hunting.
No worries mate...just a thought

the xbows only 7 months old, and is like new. they retail new at 1350, then i whacked a horton scope on (250), so i was hoping about 7-750 trade in with a dozen un-shot arrows. that woulda meant i could of only put in 3-400 and got a new hoyt setup.
axe, thanks for the offer on the pse, but i think this is a sign that i am meant to give traditional a go. im going saturday to another store to have a squiz at some huntin recurves (hopefully ones that suit a long draw).
regarding the other post on a beer in wilcannia, my dads mate reckons its the kinda place you drive through and dont stop, not even for a piss.
the locals are meant to be terrible. hope you can stick up for coach if he gets his arse kicked! :D

hey coach, that looks pretty bad. :( those kinghitters suck big time.
 i spent 4 days in hospital and now have two plates in my lower jaw after surgery to fix two different breaks in it. some clown thought he'd attack me while i was in the quartering away position. suited for hunting, but not fisticuffs. then his five mates thought it would be fun to lay the boot in after i hit the ground. did i get mad? yes. did i hunt him down? no, cause then id be the one going to jail. he's now working his arse off to pay the $14,000 i sued the prick for, and the cowards got a criminal conviction. funny thing is, it only just covered medical expenses.
Hey yeah there are some gutless wounders out there. Just the other day my cousin from over the coast was at a party and a f*#&$n dude came up behind him while he was sitting in a chair and king hit him then kicked him in the face when he was on the ground. He got a broken nose and fractured eye socket. Lets just say my cousin has a lot of friends and this dude ended up much worse off.
Macka
Always stick up for your mates

you do always want to stick up for your mates, but only if they weren't doing anything wrong.
if your always chasing a payback, it just gets to ghetto.

I worked as head of security at one of the local clubs for four years.
Had all sorts of D/heads trying their luck on "Bounce a Bouncer Nights"
Got jumped by five guys one night, while one of them attracted my attention, four of them took turns at taking their best shot uninterrupted.
Worked out quite well in the long run, for a broken nose, I got a fully paid trip for two to Bali all expenses paid.
Got a few scars from knives, the last knife attempt made up my mind that there are better ways to earn money for a second job.
The worst thing is, everytime I go out, I am putting some obstacle at my back and always pick the best spot at the urinal to see passing traffic.
Strange thing is, before this, I was doing security at Biker parties and this was much safer and enjoyable than working with the average drunken citizen.
Warlocke, know what you mean, gave it up also, cost me too much in torn clothes & constant tangoing with some bastards mate from the night before. Lucky for me my scars are hidden by my radiant beauty! :D :D :D

simon, would it be true that theres a heap of hogs or goats there, cause dads mate tends to exaggerate?
Depends, a property i have permission on in good pig country near here, and bordering a national park has very few pigs on it atm. the problem is most property owners must the goats for sale regularly as the price is pretty high, this leaves only pigs for sport shooting and a lot of people round here go pigging. doesnt leave many numbers and very few pigs of decent size as they shoot whatever moves.
If the property owner is one of the very few not mustering goats then there is a good chance of their being high numbers as they love the area.
if you want any more info or even want me to check the place out to see if its worth the trip just let me know. if its on the river i'd be more than happy to go take some photos and throw a line in for a bit.

thanks simon. i'll find out the exact whereabouts of it, and a bit more on the goings on at the property. with dads mate being the livestock manager of australia, it will be one of his clients huge cattle properties. id doubt they'd be rounding up goats, but you never know. i'll speak to the property owner in the next couple of months, and get his honest opinion of the game. if it looks good, your more than welcome to join me for a hunt towards the end of the year, and im sure he'd be cool to let you on in the meantime for a hunt and fish.
