After chatting to a guy recently about tanning I went looking at the information that I had and then I did a google for more.
I've always used Leidreiter's Tanning Solution and found it great for goat skins. His book "Knives Skinning & Tanning" (John Leidreiter) is brilliant. It covers Knives in section one; Skinning Hides & Pelts in section 2 and then Tanning Traditionally (incluing 10 bush recipes) in section 3. The ISBN for those who want to chase it up is: 0 9595120 04. The address in the back of my book (7th edition January 1998) is PO Box 679 Runaway Bay, Gold Coast 4216.
There is an interesting CSIRO page on tanning small hides at: http://www.tft.csiro.au/leather/hometanning.html
I noticed that Archery Supplies have a soultion called "Leder" Tanning Formula at: http://www.archerysupplies.com.au/whatsnew.htm
Can anyone who has used this product let me know what its like to use.
:)
