what the best tips do you fellas have when sighting in a bow?
cheers
Only thing I can suggest is to shoot about 6-10 arrows before adjusting sights etc in case you just shot a few off shots.
I know I quite often release wrong or stand wrong and that can effect how you're shooting.
Also remember if you're shooting left then adjust your sights left to bring your shooting over to the right. The same with if you're shooting low, bring your sights down so that you will shoot higher. Sounds backwards but thats just the way it is.

where you are shooting is where you put your sights
i think what jerry means is if you'r shooting high you lift you'r pin up and if you'r shooting to the right move the pin to the right ect

I sighted my pins in on the weekend. Tip i'll give is...If you have a 3 or 5 pin site....Range in the middle pin by moving the rign itself. Then focus on the upper and lower pins. Eg 30m for 3 pin or 40m for 5 pin. That way all your pins will still be "centered" in your site ring.

What you say may be right Pat, but if the only info is to come from other web sites or clubs & not come from personal experiences to be shared here, which is what I believe the site is /should be predominantly about, there isn't much sense in having the forum :)

axe, thats a fair thought...my thoughts are,if there is already a well source out piece of information that one can access and refer back to why not let everyone know...and esp for someone new, recomending a club for someone where one can get one on one help cant be beat...
i agree with u that the forum is a great place, and i look at it where ppl come and share information..now i can say i have a lot of first hand knowledge, but all that was learnt from trial and error plus also from more experienced ppl i have met over my 25 years been involved in archery and also from other forums...
personally i would rather point someone in the right direction to where thereis a well laid out piece of clear information that they can read, and then if they hav a problem come back and ask more..
but if in some way i am doing something against this forum,i shall cease..
thanku pat...

More Grunt, possibly the best piece of advice I can give is, when initially setting your bow up for sights, ( I assume you are using a peep ) is to attatch your release or grab hold of your string, and with your eyes closed draw back your bow into a comfortable shooting position. When you are comfortable with your form open your aiming eye and with the help of an assistant mark your string with a piece of chalk where you look thru' it. This is where you should situate your peep. If you position your peep where you have to lift or lower your head, it is in the wrong position.
