Well as long as youĂ*re rich Like this bloke you too can shoot one, this Red stag would have cost anywhere from 16,000 to 20,000 USD! Note how they leave out its all closed range. Not that I have a problem with it at all but at least people should know the facts.

You can judge for your self, some massive heads here for sale!

Hey ultratec Nice stag! i Have been after a nice fallow stag for a while now i'm hoping next years rut is my chance :D. What distance was he taken at? i have a few nice ones with a rifle but they are close to meaningless to me!

PeterM

Now me, I don't care that he paid big bucks for his chance at a shot at a deer like that. If that blows his hair back then good on him.
But I can also say that I think all the guys present at that hunt are ********s. They stood around slapping each other on the back and telling each other what heros they were and the poor bloody deer wasn't even dead yet. I think the least they could have done is taken 2 seconds out of their love fest to dispatch the deer first.
I agree, but the NZ so Called game ranchers as they call them, I call them closed range that's all and if I had a ship load of money to spend I would go there to, as Jindy said, I agree again there a little over enthusiastic, but as we know the Yankees as easily motivated, and more patriotic than most Aussies but they still IMO should leave it for the off air section of the video. But the Americans who would watch would definitely have a different opinion from Jindy and I, and the truth is the yanks are spending big over there and making a many a kiwi rich.

Oh and yeah good on you Ultratec a nice Fallow buck, very nice! :)

Do you know what he scored (for my interests sake)?

See ya Pete.

Nice stag Utratec, and looks great on the wall - who did the taxidermy?

As for the video off the NZ website, its a nice stag - pitty its a different animal in the vid to the photo. Yeah sure they could have waited a minute or two while the nerves stopped twitching to get the closeup, but the thing looked pretty dead to me, no dramas here

I shot him with my mathews outback 70# using easton axis arrows and rocky mountain snyper broadheads.
I saw a black spiker and stalked in to about 30 meters, and then this guy came and chased him off and started going in the other direction so i burped at him and he came trotting towards me with his head down.
I didn't want to take a front on shot though, so I was waiting for him to turn but he didn't and the only reason I took the shot is because he turned to go around me, he took off and make it about 150 meters with a shot through the back of the lungs.
Unfortunately I still havn't recovered the one I shot last week Jindy, but I will have another look for him tomorrow on my way to Victoria for my week on the hog deer :)

I got into 40 meters from a nice buck and the shot hit a bit far back (nerves at the shot), I watched the deer walk off looking really groggy and I followed him up after about 5 mins and got to within 35 meters and shot him again to finish him off.
At the shot he took off into some really thick country, and I havn't found him yet.
I am positive he wouldn't have made it too far.
A few errors made by me, but I have taken away a few lessons.

I think your mate Coach may have trumped you on Antler size though bud

Simon.

Oh most defiantly mate, Coach’s'' buck is an awesome buck indeed!

But then where he is they don’t have many rifle shooters on or near his place, but unfortunately down my way they have taken over 3000 deer in the Bungendore area in the last 3 years for meat works, so the quality of the trophies is diminishing fast.

Took a mate out for a look for some Rusa, this morning he had a fair bit of beginers luck. Mark was in the right place at the right time and ended up harvesting his first stag.

He is pretty happy, only his second animal taken with the bow. I arrowed another stag right on dark the afternoon before as well, I left the tracking until morning but ended up getting a freak bout of rain that brought 3 inches and washed any hope of finding him. After a few hours of grid searching I gave up, until next weekend when I will be out there again looking. I hate the feeling that I have not done my job as the hunter, especially when I know the shot was good.
Cheers, Fenton.

A few mates and I spent the last 4 days hunting Pigs, Goats, Deer, Foxes and Cats. This is my first Fallow Deer, shot her from about 18m. single shot she ran about the same distance again and expired. Over the few days we shot 16 Goats, 1 Fallow, 4 Pigs, 4 Foxes and 1 Cat.
The Fallow was a nice way to christen the new Darton :D .

Hey guys,
Quick measure tonight puts him over 200 pts, not saying anymore till I conferm measuremnet though :) . I still cvan't beleive the rewards of a couple of years chasing these guys.

Gaving,
Just recwently I have started using G5 Montec heads, I have nothing bad to say about them at all. I pair them up to CX Terminator Hunter selects (Still pissing me off they are no longer in production), which gives me about 520 grains out of my 70# Tribute. So far a perfect setup for me.

Cheers, Fenton.
