View Full Version : Silverflame broadheads
Hi guys.
I have read that most of you favour two blades.
I have been to Namibia and harvested some animals with the 125 grain german kinetic SILVERFLAME. In my point an awesome broadhead!
Even after it CUT off one rib on a hartebeest it maintained a razorsharp edge. I have hunted with muzzys, thunderheads and bear razors before and NEVER seen anyone of then CUT off a rib! And definitely not maintain their edge after passing the animal through bones!

Here you could check them out.
I also recomend Roger at Vieranas if you wanna go to Africa.
Good guide with a burning bowhunting interest, and he only allows bowhunters on his property. Also there is a solid amount of animals on his ground.
If you want to buy broadheads from german kinetics you can trust the guy, he provided for all my friend with fast delivery.
Take care
Thomas
The Swede
Thomas,
Some nice photos of you on that website. That is certainly a BIG animal.
I have seen one of those silverflame heads and I have no doubt that they are one of if not the best made broadheads on the planet.
The craftsmanship is amazing but they also come with a VERY hefty price tag. The outback heads that we prefer are similarly designed and I dare say would perform similarly but with a tiny fraction of the price tag.
I remember reading something like $50 US for 3???? compared to $3 each. Now if I were hunting the trophy of a life time I might make that investment but otherwise its pretty hard to justify.
For example this weekend I'm going to chase some goats. Lets say I take 3 animals (not unreasonable), lets say I miss one of those shots and loose the arrow and fail to recover two other arrows.... now imagine using these heads for my trip chasing pigs up north for ten DAYS I expect to go through a few dozen arrows/heads. Not really feasible hunting Aussie ferals.
If I were chasing a big Sambar or Red stag, perhaps I would spend the dollars???
I would like to own some of those heads for display purposes though!!!
i'm with you baz, too many $
Thomas the Silverfalme heads are a very nice and no doubt the best on the market but when you have to make 50 arrows for a pig hunting trip they are far too dear. If you were going for deer and only likely to shoot one or two arrows then they might be worth the expense, but I can tell you now that the Aussie heads are hard to beat, they are no-nonsense heads at a very good price. I still have some Aussie broadheads I bought in the early 70' for 35 cents each that I am still using and they work very well...Glenn...

Thanks for your posts.
You made me realy interested, where do i find those Aussie heads?
50 arrows for pighunting?
Why 50 arrows?
I brought 12 arrows for Afrika, had 9 with me home.
2 arrows where killed by zebra and hartebest, one was killed during targetpractice because i was too tired to remember to change my sights from broadheads to target points.
So i actually killed a wheelbarrow as well in africa
I had three silverflames, two bear razor, one blunt in my bowquiver, and they all hit the same spot (bear hit three cm low left on 30 meters).
So silverflames is for expensive game, bears for baboons or small game with rock behind them, blunt for birds.
Thanks
Thomas

Can you eat a wheel barrow? How do you cook it? :o
Why 50 arrows, lots of pigs
Hey Tackles, They are pretty. Are those the $ilverflames? or some others?
Thomas if you hunted out here for a couple of weeks in sheep country when the lambing is on and there are hundreds and sometimes thousands of pigs killing the lambs you would wish you had 100 arrows. Although professional pig hunters and droughts have reduced their numbers down a fair bit of late, there are still places where big numbers of pigs when the conditions are right can be found.
Back in the 70's a mate of mine and I killed 85 pigs in five days of hunting on a property in Central Queensland, but before you start thinking that this is a waste there were so many pigs on this property we didn't even put a dint in the numbers...Glenn...
Thomas,
Had a bit of a laugh about the wheelbarrow. I have managed to knock off a shed, some trees and an old truck :D

Barry, you win! A truck
Axe, a wheelbarrow have to simmer for a long time, add lots of garlic, paprika and unions and it will be very tasty :D
Glenn, i would never think it is a waste, if the number is too high they have to go.
I could hardly imagine that number of pigs. Is there food enough for that number of animals or are they wandering large areas.
And if you need help with killing some pigs to save the lambs i will volontraily take a plane from Sweden to you with a ****load of arrows in my baggage :D
Just say the word.
I do like some of the outbacks, good 51 rockwell, screw ins, good price!
Anyone tried the supreme?
What happens with that long "nose" if it hits tough bone?
be good
Thomas
Thomas pigs in the Australian Outback kill and eat the lambs, I have seen then kill cattle in droughts. I worked on a sheep station in the Queensland Channel Country that hardly ever managed to get a lamb because of the pigs, this was in the days before I had a bow and I shot 1,200 pigs with a .243 on this property in three months but you couls have easily shot that many and people did in a week if you did nothing else but shoot pigs. But as I say there are not that many these days because of the wild pig meat trade for Europe but there are still plenty there...Glenn...
Thomas, about the "long nose" of the outback Supreme broadhead. Well. I fired the same arrow 18mts (deliberately) into an old telegraph pole (hard as a politicians head) (couldn't find a wheelbarrow  ) 4 times, the carbon arrow shattered on the 4th shot, the 160grn head, good as gold, just resharpened, earlier this week broke the shoulder blade of a red deer, still good to go. Rest assured Thomas they are TUFFFFFF! :D
Hey Axe where's the proof? That red deer. LOL I just like pics :)
Here's the proof, and don't question my integrity!
Pic Gone.
When you've looked tell me, I'll remove the pic, I'll replace it with some baby photos seeing as how you like pics. :x

gees lighten up dude. I knew you would be true to your word, I«ÉŸm going deer hunting next week for reds and I just like to see all the pics I can. It pumps me up and gets me more exited. Sorry if anything I wrote offended you I have a habit of putting my foot in my mouth lol.
Macka
Axe thanks for your post.
Seems like a good head the supreme.
I will buy some of them and try how they behave in Sweden :)
I have tried the bear razor but i am not happy with the sharpness i get from it, but the animals seem to run shorter distances and with less speed when hit with a longnose than a those hit with a shorter blade.
Nice deer you got there, congrats :D
Thomas
