DAMN FOXES
Went for a fox hunt yesterday (Monday 13th), went over to Euroa, caught up with the mate over there, along with another mate went out to a property for some whistling, we tried a couple spots on this place with out any luck, but further into the property we came across a great looking gully, with a nice little creek flowing though it, and some ferns and blackberry bushes, a likely looking spot, I set up with my bow in what I thought would be a good spot, hoping the fox would come out in front of me, Rob, with his button whistle set up about 10 metres to my left and behind me, when the whistling started I was all set to go,(all camoed up in my suit) eyes darting around hoping to catch sight of the fox, when I heard Rob whisper, “Rick to your left”, I slowly turned and there was this fox heading straight towards where Rob was whistling from, Rob was laying completely on his back in the bracken fern, I slowly turned and attempted to pull the bow back, but this alerted the DAMN fox and away he went, (very quickly) the way he had come from, “done again by those pesky things”, Rob kept whistling, hoping to turn the fox around but he/she was out of there.
We moved into another area, over the hill , and set up again to try our luck, there were a few rabbits running about , Rob set about whistling again, after about 5-10 minutes we decided to move on, so we headed back over the fence , then all of a sudden there was this rabbit letting out this loud scream, we had drawn a fox into us, and it had grabbed one of those rabbits that we had seen running about just as we set up.
ONE DAY SOON I WILL GET ONE OF THESE DAMN FOXES.
