View Full Version : First bow hunt
It's finally come around, I'm going on my first bow hunt on the May day weekend. :D :D :D A couple of mates from the club have asked me and my son along so with all going well hopefully father and son can experience their first bow harvest together, can't get any better than that. Just gotta be able to get through the next week.....
Good luck to you & your son Spider, hope you do well :D
Thanks Axe, Coach, hopefully I'll be able to post a pic or two. Been waiting for this time to come around and take the boy into the bush. Whats the saying, teach your child to hunt and you'll never have to hunt for yor child.
good luck buddy, will catch up for that beer soon
Will never forget my first hunt!!! hope yours is equally memorable.
They say give a man a fish and feed him for a day....Teach him how to fish and he'll spend the rest of his life in a tinny drinking piss with his mates!!!
Go hard mate! Good luck to both you and the young fella!
I'll never forget your first hunt either Baz, it was a privilage to take you on it :)

Good onya Spider ,
You've seemed a keen and eager member since you joined, i thought you'd had a few cracks at this bowhunting caper before
All the best of luck to you and your son mate , like others have said the stalk is the rush mate not just the kill but hopefully you'll experience both!
Good luck buddy ;)
Cheers, Cam
heehee...I just noticed you signature Bowman...I knew i'd seen it somewhere!!!
Good luck Spider, make the most of you first bowhunt because it can never happen again. I remember my first hunt as though it was yesterday, I sitll haven't gotten over it and it was 30 years ago now, but for you to be able to experience it with your son would be a real thrill, have fun..Glenn...
Thanks for all the good wishes folks. I'm sure I'll enjoy every second even if I dont get to draw on any game. This next week is gonna go so slow..Cheers
:D Enjoy! Hope you find some good game and that the wind is in your favour. Remember to breathe deeply and control that adrenalin!
One more day and I'm off on my first bow hunt, :D :D damn this week has gone bloody slow though. Will hopefully have pics and a bit of a blurb on Tuesday....

Hope u and spidey junior get amongst them mate!
It has been a slow week, i thought u would have been and come back by now
Cheers, Cam
Cam, wish I had been down and back, would have got rid of all this anticipation, mate almost feel like a young pup again, been a while since I've been this excited about doing something :P ...Scott
Well, I'm back, didn't get the opportunity to loose an arra but saw my first Fallow's in the wild, mainly from the arse end though as they disappeared into the scrub. Didn't find the pigs the property owner reconds were into his vineyards but found sign of were they had been. Covered a lot of country and generally enjoyed being back in the bush. The country we were in was dry as and very thick, and any movement sounded like a bloody herd coming through. Never mind theres always next time. Best though is the young fella is hooked to....Cheers..Scott

Sounds like u guys still had a great time even without loosing an arrow.
I think thats the beauty of bowhunting. A kill is not the measure of a 'successful' hunt. Learning something new about the animals we hunt, spotting birds and other native critters aswell as a good long walk in the Aussie bush i think are rewards enough to keep me heading bush!
Hope you have fun in your future hunts mate and keep that young fella keen.
Cheers, Cam
