My third pic (my best pig to date) was shot from extremely close range, under 3 mtres at is walked past. he jumped forward, lookoed around and eyebelled me, we had stare down that felt like a bloody long time, but was probaly aboy 4-5seconds, i though he was going to go me. A million thoughts at once went through my mind, as i thought of what do do if he charged, should i kick it in the head, or hit it with my bow or run around the termirte mound that was a short distance away, but with the boar so close, he could've closed the gap and ripped me a new one before i could do too much, so i just stood still,waited.....waited then he turned around ran a short way and collapsed, i stood back and made sure he was dead, cause i was on my own and not takin any chances. But all was good. so no i havnt, thank god.

jindydiver
20-10-05, 10:42 AM
In Vic' you can find them up along the Murray River all the way into the high country.
You won't find them in any great numbers though, and certainly not in numbers like the NT guys see.

humphrey
21-10-05, 06:42 AM
yeah they seem to be extremely rare in victoria.
strathbogie ranges holds a few. the popluation was good back in the 70's, but theres not many left now from what ive heard.

He went 32 points, i shot him at around thirty five yards and he travelled 50 to 60 meters. He was shot just before the drought that we still have out here.

After telling a few lads on the Management hunt about this big fella, I thought I would put him back up. I thought he was already in here but I cannot for the life of me find it. This fella was taken about 3 year ago on a property at Tenterfield. Although the tusk measurement only went 25 2/8 He is a very big bodied Boar. I myself weigh 100ks so you can see by the comparison he is very big indeed.
