TRIP AWAY-
Well the trip did not get off to a well planned start,as i intended to get away by 6.00am on the sat morning (23rd),when i was in the patrol ready to rock and roll,no dash lights, and no tail lights, also a noise coming from the dash (speedo cable),so with double demerit points operating in NSW during the long weekend (anzac w/e),(had to unload some gear to get at the tool box)took the steering wheel of,finally fixed the switch, then proceeded to dismantle the dash to get to the speedo cable, lube that, then re-assembled (and every thing went back in place LOL),time was now about 9.00am,was then pissed off and was not going to go on the trip, but finally decided to head away, loaded gear back into the patrol and headed (about 10.00am),(Rang the owner said i would be very very late)this put me about 4 hours behind, finally got into COBAR at about 5.45pm, back into range for the mobile, there was a message from the property owner saying still head out to the property,as he will be out at a party, and will leave some lights on,so i fuelled up and headed out the willcannia -cobar road,(wrong way),looking for the turn off to TILPA,which i have now found out is called the 52 mile, and this stretch was the roughest, dustiest, roughest, roughest road you could imagine, and the roos wanted to say hello all the way along this stretch, speed got down to 35k's at times,(very slow travelling),finally made it to TILPA,had a quick look at the Pub,then headed out the Tilpa-Louth road, finally made it to the property at around 10.00pm,just before the property 3 pigs ran across the road in front of me,this bucked up the spirits no end,as the owner was not at home i curled up in the front seat for a quick nap,he got home around 11.30pm, he took me to the huts, and said he would catch me in the morning, what i needed was a good sleep, then i fell down the back stairs off the huts, gee things were going well, grazed my left arm and strained my right shoulder, now this was good for a right handed bowhunter, anyway finally got some sleep, the owner arrived at the huts and took me for a captains cook off the property,(very very dry and dusty),after lunch went down to the homestead and dropped of all the goodies i had bought with me (tinned fruit, bread and cakes etc),then had an afternoon hunt with out any success, the owner had explained that there was a big boar near this dam,so i checked this out,i parked the car and did a wide arc around the area, and on nearing the car again i did spy this damn pig running off into the lignum,i found where he had been bedded down it was only 20 metres from where i parked the car,and ten metres from the road,he only moved when i was coming back to the car,so i was beginning to think i was jinxed,a late start on the saturday, falling down the stairs, and now this pig missed, headed back to the huts for some tea and a good sleep,on the monday (anzac day),i again headed out for a look see, went to several dams, sat on a few and just watched the comings and going of the sheep, when on one dam way down the back of the property,i heard goats,so slowly crept up to the dam,and they were heading my way,but i was on the downside of the dam wall,so had to wait to see if they would come over, but no they did a complete circle of the dam base and went out where they came in,so i did a slow walk around the waters edge, and then there he was a pig under this tree having a midday snooze.which i abruptly woke him from, with an arrow through the chest, i tracked him for about 100 metres, and found him laying down near a tree base,so hit him again with another arrow, and i had my PIG,the first one for over 10 years,
I had the opportunity to take some goats, but did not worry as they were not big billies so left them for next time.

*I Cut the jaws, and took back the both jaws to camp, boiled them for awhile, but did not want to use to much gas,(supplied by the owner)so left them on some ants nest (should have known better)while i went out for another hunt (4.00pm and back at 6.00pm),on returning,a fox had decided they were his, found the bottom jaw the next day,but did not find the top jaw.

The next day went with the property owner to help out checking his water system(poly pipe system stretching kilometres from the pumping point),as he was getting leaks in the sytem,we did some repairs, new joiners and extra poly pipe, and things looked ok.Then proceeded to check the water flow into various dams, which was working ok now. After this headed back to camp to pack up my gear for a early getaway in the morning, after thanking the owner the next morning headed back home after a trip that ended better than it had started.

**Travelled 2000 kilometres for the trip
**Spent $325 on fuel
**Spent $150 on tucker and goods for the property owner, so the one pig was very expensive, but it was great to get away for awhile, from the rat race. :D

**Bow used is a BUCK SABER @54lb,used beman 55/75 carbonhawk arrows, with a outback supreme head.

Will be heading to this property again later on this year (OCTOBER),and also will again be heading to COBAR may 16th,with some friends from New Zealand.
