don't know how I missed your post mozza
Thats a huge smile to. :D
Oh well good job mate, from what distance did you shoot them?
And I notice that you have some orange lensed glasses, are they any good and do you use them when shooting the bow?
cheers hood, i think i shot one from about 10 meters and the other from 40 meters.
The glasses are just my fishing sunnies, the lenses change their shade depending on the light.
Also i always have a smile when im hunting :D

wat sort of range can u get on a rabbit
Bowmancam
25-07-05, 08:52 PM
Ive snuck up and hit one with a hockey stick when i was about 15 ... a full on stalk around a blackberry bush then Whammo ... never knew what hit him ... would have been the same result with a bow i reckon ;) .. not pretty but when your a young fella its amazing what you attempt, and sometimes what you achieve .
Cheers, Cam
wat sort of range can u get on a rabbit
Most of mine have been shot from under 10m with a few at 15m and one at 20m.
Guess it depends on if you are stalking or waiting in ambush for them.

A photo from the hey days had in Tasmania before the Calesie
Is bowhunting legal in Tasmania? ... I didnt think it was, just wondering?
Cheers, Cam
Yep bowhunting is legal down there , but it is restricted to Rabits Hares feral cats and the few Pigs that we had on King Island everything else was covered by a minimum Cal weapons legislation , bit of a bugger but I worked with it until I escaped to the big Island LOL.
good stuff steely

hay bow hunting is legal there with rabbits but no other game  there but i wish u could hunt the fellow deer with a bow i just moved up to qld from down there and we had a farm there with 10 000 acers and it was fool of fellow deer it was such a good place to be in when u get up in the morning and see all the deer there feeding and beded down in the grass but its a shame u can not hunt them with a bow it sucks but o well there r meany up here. thanks big bucks
Rabbits that is, but it should be noted that they only banned bow hunting larger animals because they didnĂ*t know the capability of archery equipment. Now we all know that most archery equipment will handle any fallow deer, what I must be some type of super fallow down they as all the people that shoot fallow deer on the main land every year must just have fluked it right, WRONG!
Shoot away, I would! Bunnies that is, well maybe?
If itĂ*s feral it in peril!
See ya Pete.
I got this bunny on video and took the pic out the footage if you look carefully to the left the arrow is in flight and about to smash into his head. Using carbons and a gladiator head. This warren of holes is 80m from my bedroom window.

have any of u guys ever shot to rabbits with one arrow
I sure have mate, I was hunting with roger charnock and tayne walters. The arrow tipped with a rubber blunt bounced off the rabbits head I was aiming at went about 70 meters in the air and landed on another rabbit.
And the rabbits weren't very thick in the area.
I like to call it a top fluke.

Puk 8)
Because I'm not a very good shot coach!
Last time i went out i shot 5 rabbits, and only had one to show for it!
I was shooting them through the body, when they were sitting there about 30cm away from their burrow entrance.
the arrows went straight through, they gave a hop into their burrow and i lost them. 2 of the 4 shots i thought i had missed, only to smell and see the gut contents on the arrow.
Is a 70lb compound a bit of overkill on rabbits?
If you shoot them in the neck or head, they tend to stop pretty quick.
a lot of guys seem to use woody's supremes. I'm gonna give that a lash. The size of the cut might put them straight down.
Puk. 8)
Hey puk try and get your stalks so you have a bit og a bank or mound behind to stop the arrow before it has completley penetraded the rabbit. I have been shooting downhill at all my bunnies lately or out of a tree so they dont get far with an arrow in them.
Macka
Thanks Macka, but mallee scrub won't hold my weight mate.
Yeah, coach, i know they all run a bit. I suppose if i could shoot striaght at the head it would help, hey?

ps hav u been back to where u lost ur bow?? no luck so far,be good when u find it,ull hav a good backup...
Hey pat sorry i missed this post. Haha I can catch as many as u want mate got 30 one night a few weeks back shoot over their head with a rimfire and jump out and catch them under the spotlight. We put them in a cage and do them the next day eat most ourselves and give a heap away. Mate i would go for head shots but the bloody stubble they are hideing in deflects the arrows like nothing! I was aiming at the head on that one and the deflection even over 5m was that much.
Here is one i got right on dark tonight from 30m smacked him with a judo through the middle and managed to ger hold of him and dispatch him before he got down a hole.

Yes mate it's a widow and the covers are the same as Axe's ( thanks Axe)
Thans an older pic I just thought I would put it in here also.
I didn't eat this one if you look near the hood of the quiver you will notice a large lump in the chest area.
Duane, didn't offend me one bit mate

i've only shot a few rabbits, and only a photo of one:http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f226/rohanszp/goatshooting022.jpg

Went out last week, find it preety difficult in evenings down here in vic, bunnies coming out at 5pm, sun down at 530. Bring on summer and daylight savings. Guess i'll have to try hunting something more daylight friendly. Only ever hunted rabbits 'till now. Any suggestions?
found this photo, it's about 5 months old and was shot behind my house (must have been waiting for my carbons and a bigger quiver)
