We had a couple of days delay due to wet weather but we managed to get out a couple days late but being flexible no time was lost.

John & Julie arrived to meet me in Charters Towers for the trip out as they had come in from NT. A long 20hr drive but cheaper than flying.

The main aim as John put it was to get Julie a Chital no matter what or he would have a rebellion on his hands....

It was their first Paid hunt and they had been smashing Donkeys for the last 12 months or so.

It was wet and all the hunting was done on foot from the house but this didn't make any difference as the Chital were everywhere. Some excellent heads over 30 inches where seen everyday of the trip and on a regular basis.

First morning Julie had a chance at 35m but misjudged the distance and the arrow fell short. This was the case for most of the trip with arrows just over or under mainly due to the distances in the undulating country being different to the vast flat expanses out west.

Julie managed to roll a Doe with a beautiful heart shot on the 3rd day after some cat & mouse manouvers on a ridge. A job well done given it was stalked and not from a tree stand.

We tried everything over the week and the Chital just seemed to be just out of reach and very lucky....Thats Chital Hunting.....

All packed up with their skin and venison they headed home for the long drive vowing to return and go one better.

A lot of hgunters have been using these of late and they seem to work pretty well and keep the quick bows arrows very stable.
