hondas are the bees knees..
the boss sent me a little 2 stroke gme genie,85 bucks, from super cheap or repco...
mate they are not as quiet as the hondas of course, but are ok,they have a 2 yr warranty, easily runs tv,pc, phones, videos etc and a light here, saves running the big deisel at night..
on hot nights i throw on the big industral fan and powers that ok...
it would be fine with say a camping fridge and lights etc..
and for 85 bucks, two year warranty, how can u go wrong..small and compact as well..
anyways just my imput

Depends on how much you want to spend or how often you go camping.
Hondas are great.
I 've been using $95.00 from repco for the last 3 years, haven't had a problem yet ( touch wood) it's done 3 hunting trips to golf each trip we go for 2 weeks.
Like Pats siad they will run numerous things.
Little bit noisy all we do is run a lead about 20-30meters away from camp hardly notice it.

Thanks guys for your ideas.I like the look of the GMC stuff, been using drills, router etc for several years now and never had a problem.
A new Honda 2.5kva will cost me a $1000 and as you say a $200 or less one will do the same job.Just a bit wary trying to get parts if the cheap one does break down.
If all goes well the wife and I are going on the road with the caravan for a couple of months but obviously it won't be hooked up to generator every day.
Would you prefer 2 stroke or 4 stroke in regards to easy starting etc?

mate for 85 or 95 bucks with a 2 year warranty, who cares, any probs take back and get a new one or after 2 years ,buy a new one..
i run mine here every day for10 to 12 hours, more work than any u blokes will ever do..no offence intended :D
had it before xmas...
u could by ten of them and still be cheaper than a honda
just all depends what u want it for...

Sounds good to me mate.....Think at anyone time 5 hours would be a long time for me to have one running...most times would be around 240v I think.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I have a Super Cheap Auto 650-850 watt paid $135.00 for it I think. Has 3 year warrenty and not to loud either. Not bad on petrol either. Think its been on 3 camping trips and through Cyclone Larry with absolutley no troubles.

I should also say this. I have heaps and heaps of woodworking tools. Many are GMC, sanders, cordless drills, drop saws all good value for money. BUT They dont have as good a reputation with their bigger tools, ie compressors and dust collectors. I went through two of each under normal use within a year before giving up on them.
I asked around the shops I deal with and found their bigger tools just arent such good value for money, so please be careful buying their generator.
