First Fallow

Well I am back from a week in the southeast of south Australia and I only managed one deer with the bow this time. I shot him from 15m half an hour into the hunt on the first afternoon. I only got another two walks in due to the fact that I was working down there fencing as well and there just wasn't the time to hunt as well :cry: The rut had finished down there and I only saw a couple stags and the reds had cleared out. Plenty or Rusa and Fallow though so might be worth a look when the Rusa are rutting.

What a way to christen my new bow, very happy with it! complete passthrough broke both shoulder plates and stuck in a tree out the other side so i got a tree 2 :wink:

Hey thanks all yep I was really happy. I wish I got more time so I could try for a stag but next time. I might go down just for hunting next time. The country is very open scattered with gum/mallee trees and there are patches of scrub like the photo. I shot him on the edge of the scrub and he ran about 7m into it and dropped dead. These deer have got me hooked now :D

Yeah there are just as many Rusa there as fallow, so I recon that will be worth a go. My cousin made me go cull some deer from the Ute with the rifle to and I shot a huge fallow stag and I just felt like it was such a waste because if I had got it with the bow it would have been such a grate achievement. One palm was broken but the one good one would have been round the 200 dp mark with massive brown tines. Next time I hope his brother is there.

your bow must be quite powerful to go through both shoulder blades and stick into a tree. what poundage are you shooting macka?
