What do you all use? I us a 10 arrow, two piece bow quiver. Am thinking about changing to a belt. Mainly because I am finding the bow quiver a bit cumbersome, as well as adding weight and overall bulk to the setup. Any pros or cons for both are welcome.

i use a 4 arrow bow quiver less weight and it would be a rare day i would shoot 4 arrows on an outing. Hip quivers i found were to hard to stalk in especially when it came to crawling.

I have only used a Bow quiver with my compound.

When walking through the bush I would think the hip quivers would catch the brush and make it difficult to move quietly.

Like I said, I haven't used one in the bush so someone else might have a better idea.

Skip....IMHO you would be much better off opting for a smaller capacity bow quiver. The hip quiver is a big pain in the a#*e :x in anything but open country, walk'n around shooting rabbits, or if your waiting in ambush. When stalking in bush or crawl'n along the ground the quiver hooks on bushes, scraps & rattles against them etc etc. You end up paying more attention to the quiver than you do stalking. I know cause it has cost me in the past :)

ive always opted for the hip quiver, cause its less weight on the bow, but i wear it more behind me than on the side. i hunt mostly in really thick forest around victoria's NE and find that occasionally i do get it caught, but no more often than i bang my head or slip on my arse.

Food for thought, thanks to all. I will probably modify the current one to take six arrows. I may carry a cache of spares bundled up on my back though.

Can i ask why u need more than 6 arrows. Even counting 2 per animal you will get 3 in a wonder then re-stock. IMHO quality far surpasses quaninty, especially now when we should be thinking of ways to keep populations of game animals.

One of the best quivers around is what's called the stalker quiver, the fletchers are covered with a polar fleece cover and the arrows can be drawn easily as the quiver is down on your hip and you can hold it and swing it out of the way of any scrub try to get hung up on it. It's not as fast to use as a back quiver but it's a lot more versatile and adaptable. I always use mine when I wear a backpack...Glenn...

I use a back quiver I made from a goatskin. I used to use a bow quiver but found it upset the balance of my bow and got caught in the wind which made it hard 2 shoot and it reduces the weight of my bow not having it on. I have herd that the side quivers can be a b*a&# for loosing arrows in thick stuff too.

I use a ten arrow bow quiver and try to carry a couple of spare shafts to screw b/heads too.

Jason up here in top end the main game is feral pig if you were to see the numbers you too would carry more then six I tell you its a real pain in the arse to run out of arrows half way through the day and your spares are 14 k away back at camp

If I where to hunt deer then I would only carry four

Skip try to borrow a hip quiver and try it if you think the bow quiver makes your bow too heavy

I dont like bow quivers personally, they do horrible things to my accuracy, which needs all the help It can get.

There are many alternatives

Which style is best depends on personal preference and what the requirements are, for the hunt you're on.

it depends on what you are hunting... you dont need to carry around a dozen arrows whem chasing sambar but l carry all the arrows l can when hunting hogs in the territory!!

so yes use both bow and hip quivers
