Hi Lads,

I am thinking about retiring the Ultra 2 and upgrading to the Mathews Switchback.

Has anyone shot, read or heard much about them, any info would be great.

Cheers Noel

Mate you couldnt go past the S/back I shoot one at ABA and for hunting and it does all very well.I sold one of these and a new Hoyt to a guy some weeks ago and he had to wait for the Hoyt and he shot the S/back until the Hoyt came.He had the Hoyt for three days and rang me to see if I would trade the Hoyt on another Mathews.I cant say more................
Except dont pay any more than $1200 for one.
Cheers KIM

I shot the Australian target Nationals with a Switchback and it performed far better than I did.

Very smooth bow to draw and shoot. Accurate, was shooting 296 Aust 1 Indoor (300 52x on the IFAA indoor targets) straight out of the box.
Speed was good. With a 306 grain arrow at 60# 28" it was doing 285fps (without the string suppresor rubbers in.

I didn't get to remove the arms as I have now sold it on. :( Was planning on using it in a flight contest as well.

For hunting I can't think of a better bow than the Switchback. It has everything you could want.

Marcus,

Thought you were shooting an ovation???

I have shot the switchback and found it a very nice bow to shoot.

Hi Barry
I was, however it got stolen from the club 1 week before the Nationals. Lucky for me I had the switchback arrive a few days before that so used it at the Nationals.
I did not miss the Ovation, which is an excellent bow, but a bit too long for me (which is funny cause it's the same length as my UltraElite which I shot well with.

Does the Switchback have much draw length adjsutment or do you have to change a modual or something to get dif draw lengths???????????
(without the string suppresor rubbers in.

I didn't get to remove the arms
What does doing this achieve???????????????????

Hood some people have been removing the rubber string supressors as it is said to increase arrow speed.
NOTE:The Mathews factory advise not to shoot the bow without them in so if you do so you may void your warranty.
To answer your other question no they are not draw length adjustable.
Cheers KIM........

Accuracy was my initial reason. I am paranoid about anything rubber that will move my groups if it wears. For most people it is not a problem, but I simply didn't like them.
The byproduct of the paranoia is more speed.

Kimall, removing the rubbers is not considered a warranty voiding offence, just removing the arms is.

Thanks Kim and Marcus, was just curious and thought it had soemthing to do with speed.

I have a Switchback, I've set it up for hunting, nice accurate quiet bow.
I hear if you remove the brackets and rubbers off the limbs and fit an STS system, it picks up 8 to 12 fps. :D

A rod that comes from your stabilizer to your string with a rubber stopper.

I've heard some people say the STS system does give them more speed, and some say not,I'll keep an open mind on it until I test one out myself
