View Full Version : shooting game while asleep
Just wondering what everyone thoughts are? is it bad sportsmanship?. i was just reading jim corbetts book on hunting man eating tigers and he shoots a man eater while it was sleeping and then goes onto to opologies for his unsportsman like behaviour on shooting a sleeping animal but felt it was justified as it was a man eaterand had eaten a couple hundred people. i have no problems shooting sleeping game but what are others thoughts. maybe it was the era he was in or is there people out there that think it is not far.

If game sleeps its their problem...Eat or be eaten I say..
Problem is game generaly sleeps with one eye open as they say. Their senses are usually on full alert when asleep.
I would prefer to stalk game that is awake as sleepers are much more turned on..

If your good enough to get that close to a sleeping animal then shoot it i say!

Ditto!
gotta agree stalked many sleepng deer that just got up and bolted with out even looking back for no apparent reason other than that extra sense they seem to have

As you creep up to a waterhole, and the Australian Record Boar is snoozing under a bush. Hooks that could be mistaken for a Warthog! Do you shout HOY! prior to releasing your arrow. I don't think so. :D

Will only tend to shot sleeping game if there is a numbers problem.
Silently judges thoes who do.
Survival of the fittest? (And smartest ;))
If any games sleeps at the wrong time (that being when a hunter is around with sharp pointy sticks) I think they made a fatal error and that chink in their defenses can be exploited to full extent :D
