Here is a couple of pics of my patented "Bucket Butt". A layer of high density 50mm foam, layer of old carpet. Same again. 2 old curtains (don't tell my wife). another 2 x foam/carpet. And voila, Robert's your fathers brother!

Also, a use for old phone books. I haven't tried it yet, but i'm sure it will work. :?

Hey mate i find a cardboard box of an adequate size and fill it with foam-o-fill from bunnings when dry i have a great broadhead but and when needed i just squrt in some more. Just make sure you let it dry for a few days first or the centre might not be set

Piggy.

How much does a can of that go for? an how far? I thought of that, but was advised against it cos it is too soft.

Pallet wrapping, you know the shrink wrap stuff, we are using it to fill the bulka bags for butts at our new club they work great. The only thing I found is that you have to really compress it down hard at pack as much in as you can. Sure does stop an arrow though.

The best part is it's free from lots of places supermarkets, hardware shops just about every large chain store would have it and it normally ends up in the bin.

Cheers Noel

Stick your foam a fill....i tried it once and after $64.00 i still only had a box filled with about 4" of foam....boogy boards, foam matresses or even foam unerdelay from your local carpet place works a treat at only a fraction of the cost...

Yeah. the HD foam I used is $80 a metre. Got about 2mx30cm length for $40 cash. I reckon you can get a couple of El-cheapo boogie boards for half that.

Where would I get one of those Wool bail bags thingy's from? anyone...anyone? You, at the back!

Skip,

you mite find the phone books a bit hard or are you going to shoot them end one like you have them them in the picture it mite work if you can keep the compression on them in the state they sell a foam block basically a square block made out of wet suit rubber held together by a couple of steel straps you shoot it end one so your arrow goes between the layers

Skip,
That foam stuff is on special @Mitre 10 for $8.90 a largish can.
I bought 2 of them and 1/3 filled a garbage bag. About the size of a medium goats rib cage!!

But yeah it'd be expensive.

A bloke at Riverland Archers club has built one using some wood for a frame, a bale bag and filled it with old shrink wrap.It works a treat, and all the stuff is from a recycle yard.

That bucket bong... whoops...butt.... is a good one too.

Was planning on binding them with some strapping or similar. Having the face as you see it in the photo (page leaves out). Simailaar set tp to the wet suit idea you mentioed.

Nah, managed to salvage some by canibalising others. Not bought any more yet. Ordering a dozen from the club.

Skip,
If you can't find a wool bale up there just go to a $2 shop and buy one of those big blue stripped bags

Is the club folding? or just updating?

That is a shame coach. I would have thought there would be enough archers in the Mudgee area to support a club.

You can only give so much of yourself coach. If others don't want to join in and make something then just cut your losses.

I am sorry it hasn't worked out bloke.

i use a woolpak stuffed with shrinkwrap that stops both my thin target and thick 3d arrows within a few inches.

i have put one bag inside another as they are not UV stable and this will prolong the life of it quite abit.

cost 16 bucks for the bags and the plastic from work friends wheerever
