Game Council Hunter Education Course Bondi SF 22nd-23rd July 2006


Hunter education course will be run at the Bondi Forest Camp (near Bombala) 22nd and 23rd July, with people arriving Friday night (21st)- can take up to 75 people
(There are sambar close by - the Camp Manager saw a sambar hind near the camp on Wednesday)

Cost: $250 includes meals and accommodation and course notes

(NSW Game Hunting Licence holders get a discount price $200)

Aim of the weekend:

To educate hunters on how to hunt sambar and other deer species safely, legally and successfully in the declared forests of NSW.



Guest Presenters:



Errol Mason, Professional sambar hunting guide (Sambar Shikars), sambar ecologist, hunting journalist and author of "Secrets of the Sambar"



John Dunn, retired professional hunter (NPWS), firearms and hunting expert, and jounalist

Modules:

1. NSW hunting law and legal hunting areas (Presenter: Game Council Game Manager Robert Lynn)

2. Deer recognition and behaviour (Presenter: Errol Mason, Sambar Shikars)

3. Firearms, and firearms safety (Game Council Game Manager Craig Henderson)



4. Hunting deer with blackpowder firearms ( Presenter; John Dunn)


5. Sambar ecology, behaviour, hunting techniques and tactics (Presenters: Errol Mason, Sambar Shikars and John Dunn)

6. Hunting equipment (Presenters; Errol Mason,Sambar Shikars, John Dunn and Game Council Game Manager Stephen Hurt)

7. Meat care and trophy preparation ( Presenters; Errol Mason and Game Council Game Manager Robbie Lynn)

6. Bowhunting and bowhunting safety (Game Council Game Manager Paul Lovelock)

7. Hunting with gundogs/hunting dogs (Game Council Game Manager Brent Waldron)

8. Quality Deer Management applications on public and private land (Game Council CEO Brian Boyle)

9. Photographing trophies and live deer (Presenter Errol Mason)

10. Waterfowl module and WIT test - if enough demand (Game Council Game Manager Brent Waldron) , please advise Game Council if you would like to sit your WIT Test.

There will be a field trip for habitat and deer sign

Binoculars and scopes outside on dusk-dark on Saturday night
