Sunday at dusk, after working the whistle for 4 minutes I enticed this curious predator in. I drew back to anchor and waited. He stopped at 25m behind a tree. I spat the whistle and did a mouth call to bring him out into view. He took the arrow straight throught the middle of the chest, with the outback supreme cutting its way through the full length of his body. He dropped on the spot.

Kellyville is a pretty open suburb. I live about ten mins away through the gorge in Hornsby. Got a mate just bought a house at Kellyville. Im out there quite a bit now, might have to take the bow sometime.

Thanks Guys. In thinking about it, I had 12 opportunities on foxes, only getting to draw the bow 3 times. where I hit and lost 3 before (2 of which would have died quickly in the thick blackberries, the other had a pierced ear) I finally got this one. They are very cunning with keen senses, making for rewarding targets.

After all the time spent trying to grass one of these cagey bastards, the satisfaction I felt in finally getting one will always be remembered everytime I look at it's skin.
I spent 2 hours and managed to take the foxes skin cleanly with ears, whiskers, nose, even claws on the front feet. It's currently rolled up fully salted while I try and work out how best to tann it. Any suggestions?

I have a mate who reckons you can tan anything by painting onto it a paste made of Kerosene and bi-carb soda (about 3 times a day).
He has done evrything from foxes to a cow, and reckons the skin side comes out a nice white colour.
I want to try it, but i wouldn't experiment with my first fox if i were you.

Hi adam you still looking for somewhere to get that fox skin tanned ? Try this guy his name is james he lives at windsor which is just down the road from kellyville. He does a great job.Hope you turnned the ears inside out.
Jamse Pace 0405108149 Depending on how good a job you did on the skinning it would cost around $50 or less.A tanning kit will cost you around $40 then a few hours work.

I used a tanning kit 20+ years ago on an (undisclosed) skin and it worked a treat. The skin is still in good condition today. I remember it wasn't so much work. Just check the pH of your water, etc.

Hoyt Trykon,
On acres at Kellyville mate.
Are you using a call to get onto foxes on your place? If not get down to the gun shop ASAP and buy a Tenterfield fox whistle and a scotch predator call. Soon the foxes will be skinning themselves for you (almost). If you need a hand with the foxes, I'm happy to help, as would half the population of the forum.....

Arra Slinger,
Thanks for the offer mate.

Maverick,
Thanks for that contact. I'll give him a call.
