Being short-sighted is a bigger let-down Sparra!
I wouldn't know which way i was shooting without 'em.

Puk

P.S. I suppose that would be only fair. He couldn't see me and i couldn't see him, but i reckon the odds are in the foxes favour enough as it is.

that hare thought he had the best camo around and nerves of steel !! i was about 4m from it took about 6 pics then backed off and got me bow off the quad bike and got to about 7 m and he was gone.
PUK.. are u a micheal jackson fan ? looks like you have rubber gloves on, do the foxes leave a smell on your hands if you handle them?

Yeah Nort,
They bloody stink.
I carry 2 sets of latex disposable gloves in my bum-bag.
He was a dog-fox, and the musky smell is real strong.
If i didn't have them on when i skinned him my hands would still stink now 5 days later!

puk.. didnt relize they were that bad does the tanning process get rid of the smell or does it linger.the foxs were at the top of my list last year when i was over hunting with rick and his mate .i enjoyed waiting for them come into the whistle but luck was not on our side, good to see them though.

Nort,
The smell doesn't seem to be as bad now that the skin is dryting after tanning. I think washing it with dish-detergent helps, as well as the fact that any scent glands stay on the animal, not the skin.

Well i havent been hunting for a spell, but i did go away last month to Hamilton island, thought i could post a pic of the coral trout hang out at sunset, it was the one clear day all week and typical i got to the look out just as the sun went behind another island so i missed out on a real good pic, but i still like this one.

Might as well post this one too, this is earlier in the day (the one day it wasnt raining).
Its the view from the best resteraunt on the island.

I know they aren't hunting, but they were taken by me.

Cheers Paul

hey pat,
on the second picture, ive tried to dimm the lights in the background with photo software, yet cant master it, a job for the pros i think.

The meat was and still is very tasty, hung/ butchered and now in a variety of freezers  , im still amazed how much meat came off her.
Surprisingly, no "deer" or game smell at all on the animal or the meat, very lean but not gamy and not too strong at all. :D

Hey Dirty Sanchez i just did a quick mess around with your picture(like 2 mins work) to try and make it alittle better.. theres still a glare in the backround and i had to make it abit darker but you see the picture a bit more clearer. I didnt spend much time on it so if you would like me to go over it again and try to get that glare out ill see what i can do.
