View Full Version : What & where you buy?
Where does everyone buy their archery equipment from? Everything from their bows to arrow nocks? Do you buy it from manufacturers or suppliers? Just thought this would be a good idea for a post as everyone can then hopefully save a few $'s on their next purchase. Cheers, Phil.
I've been dealing with archery mart for years with minimal drama's and recencently have been purchasing a lot of gear through 3 rivers archery in the states which has saved me a bit of money and they have very good costomer service IMHO :D

I saw a Switchback XT[new],and an Outback [new] in a Brisbane archery shop, for $1080.oo ea. the shop want to clear them out. if anyone is interested in these bows, pm me.[ I have no interest in this shop]
Cliff
I get everything from Archery Mart in Adelaide, except for a few bits and pieces off Ebay if they are cheap enough. If i ring in the morning, Brian has stuff in the mail that afternoon, and i normally get it the next day.
This isn't a bash, but as a 15y.o. beginner i dealt with a shop (which used to have a range attached) in Brisbane, that made me feel quite stupid for having to ask questions, and that i didn't have the money to afford all the high-end stuff. It almost made me put the bow down and not come back to it. Good retailers who are helpful and friendly do a lot for developing beginners into our sport.

As a forum goer, yep- I would say support the sponsers. As an Aussie- yep- keep small businesses alive, as a lot of us would be destitute without their expertise. But those who have to be independent or are reliant on mail-internet orders, well, I've had the best luck with big U.S. retailers to date. Snappy email replies = sales, in my experience.
(Pat) Cabela's and 3Rivers have never made a mistake with 10+ orders.

I live fairly remotely, archery wise, so I rely a lot on internet sales.
If I didn't have as much knowledge on archery related matters, I would make a special trip to as many shops in a major city to view and purchase my archery supplies.
I will buy what I can locally but usually purchase my bows overseas.
Thanks for the replies everyone, has been exactly what I was looking for & has hopefully helped out alot of other readers in the same boat.
I myself haven't bought alot of products yet as I was given my first bow by a friend which is still the same bow I have now. Bought a scott release for $15.00 off a mate & 6 x 2219 Gamegetters fletched with ribtek broadheads from a indoor archery store when i was in Townsville, aswell as a new quiver & a few other odds & ends including some dvds.
So all of your great advice will definatly be taken into account when I need to buy new gear, which hopefully will be quite soon. Cheers, Phil.
bear, have u dealt with john macdonald
Pat, never dealt with him, does he charge much on top of what it normally costs?

no he didnt seem too,it looked like he must get it at a wholesale price and goes from there...plus as he buys quiet a bit in,prob saves on postage...
seemd to work out pretty cool..ive dealt with them direct as well and they have been good...
pat :)
I just e-mailed Cabelas about a plano protector bow case, and how much postage would be.
He reckons due to the size, it would have to go air, and postage would be 40% of the total, but the total is only $29 U.S.
Is it possible to get a hard bow case here for $45 U.S? (about $61 AU)
Any hints would be appreciated.
Archery shops in Oz charge about $120 for similar hard cases (eg doskocil se 44)
I need a hard case if i am going to be able to fly places and put the bow on the plane, like the group hunt next year etc.

puk,on some items, locals cant beat or match the price.
are u looking at the dosckil?
i bought this case from cabelas, its only a single, but its is solid and i can basically pack all my camo gear and extras in it,along with arrows suitable for an away hunt where i need to fly..comes with a small tackle box,i put all my broadheads etc in that for travel.
roughly cost be about 150 aus landed here, and when i bought it,the shops i deal with didnt have em..i have seen them now advertised for about 220 plus in aus..
