Hi just wondering 1st of all if anybody can reccomend a good chemical or whatever to clean the shafts before sticking screw ins in the shaft and before glueing fletching on what do i clean shaft with.
Last question is what glue do i use to stick the screw ins in the shaft i have tried epoxy but it just seems to not work very well.

There's a few different opinions on this. I roughen the inside of the shaft up a little bit with a rat-tail file, give a wipe with a cotton-bud stick soaked in denatured alcohol, wipe with a paper towel, then use 24hour epoxy. Never had an insert come out. You could also use a .32 cal wire rifle barrel brush for roughing up. Fletching prep- a good wipe with de-natured alchohol (Bundy doesn't work!), or acetone will get you going. Don't forget (depending on the manufacturer's instructions) to wipe the base of the vane or feather with alcohol. Try using a isocyanate (super-glue) type bonding agent or else the ol' Felch Tite is good. Good luck!

I use the same method as norman except wash with plain water and use the rifle bore brush instead of the file and it works fine for me too!

A wipe with acetone will get rid of any top layer gunge and provide a great bonding surface.

acetone plus a bit of wet and dry works for me, but watch the type of acetone, I have been told that some of it has oil in it which would defeat the purpose, though I think that that this was referring to the nice smelling acetone that women use to remove nail polish.
Acetone actually breaks down the chemical that super glue is made of so this may cause a problem.I have always found it had more to do with the brand of vane than the shaft(with carbon).I use the Bohning epoxy and dond even clean the shafts inside and dont have a prob.

I use metho. for cleaning, and a local made Super glue for fletches and inserts.

Mate, for cleaning i can never go past using Grappa, an italian alcohol drink, almost pure alcohol. And for the glue, Easton have a special glue for arrows, and its just epoxy, workds great. had no problems yet touch wood.
