There are still plenty of pigs around the area but they are spread thin because of the lack of feed and water.

If you are thinking of looking for properties to hunt you would do best by sticking to places that have river frontage.

I hunt a property out Taralga way (about 30 mins outta goulburn) and we used to get a heap of pigs out there but in the last 2 or 3 years i would have only seen 2 or 3. The property i hunt borders a national park and the rangers poisoned heaps of pigs on the property, and they havn't regained anywhere near the numbers we once saw. Thankfully it still has heaps of goats so we always atleast get to chase a few ferals around and seeing a pig is a bonus.

Cheers, Cam

Down towards the river from Taralga has always been good for a few pigs.
It's sad but just the way it is that the parks find it easy when the pigs are in tough times to give them a caning. Good for the farmers though **** for the hunters.

If there were pigs there in the past, they will still be there, just harder to find.
Most people are finding it easier to find deer at the moment

Hi guys im looking for a property in nsw or act to bowhunt on (feral species only...mainly rabbits and foxes) Dont suppose anyone has a property like this or could point me in the direction of someone who does...willing to help out with any work or bring supplies etc etc to the owner. I'm a responsible young man but i just casnt seem to find a property. People have told me to find the numbers of farmers and call or write them a letter...but where do i find there number? What do i say or write and seeing as im the only one of my friends interested in hunting nobody can help me...also looking for hunting partner not just property.
Thanks a million.

Some of the fellas are organising a shoot (maybe a hunt) over the june long weekend near mudgee. All welcome, so if you want to come, fling a few arrows and meet some of us (possible hunting contacts ), keep your eyes on the announcements section and put your hand up to come along. The more the merrier

What part of Sydney are u in? I'm always keen to hunt and have access to quite a few properties. Keep active on the boards mate and if we've got room 1 weekend i'll see if i can take u along

How many weekends have you been sitting at home wondering how to get on to a place?
There is nothing like grabbing a map, getting in the car and spending a weekend out driving around looking for a place. It is dead easy mate.

Make up some business cards with your details on them and just go talk to farmers, give them the card and next thing you know you will have more places than you can handle.
There are a few places where your patients will be stretched (Mac' Marshes is one) but you will find that if you get off the main roads the farmers there are more than happy to chat and a lot will give you a go if you look (and act) like a responsible person.

Like Cam said, come to the get together on the June long w/e and participate in the boards and you will find plenty of places in the end.

I see in your profile you are a diver. Have you spent much time around JB?

I'll take you out for goats if you make the cut shooting wise

Yes Coach, an important part of deciding to offer or not.
When I take guys out with rifles I like to know they are safe if they are ever going to be in the same paddock as me with their loaded firearm, and when I take new bowhunters I want to be sure that I am not going to spend the best part of the day looking for some gutshot goat.

Hi guys thanks im 19 and have been shooting on and off for a few years now.I'm currently shopping for a compound bow. Ill admit im not the best of shots and could use a little coaching but im short of money now as i have just opened a business, and joining fees for my local clubs are more than i have spare right now. I've spent plenty of time in the bush over the years. Maybe meeting up etc would be a good idea and make contacts for the future (by future i mean after some target practice to make sure im still up to scratch.) So far i've only had opertunity to shoot targets as,like jindydiver pointed out ,i am a diver(which is alot easier to do in sydney then hunt) so i have spent most my time spearfishing etc. Hence i asked if any body wanted to partner up as it would be great to learn from the masters. Jindydiver if by jb you mean jervis bay? No i havent i missed out on two dive trips there due to severe head colds with impecable timing. Also i live on the north shore of sydney, hornsby to be exact. So hoping soon to have a bow in my hand and practice practice practice.
Thanks heaps people for your help it is VERY much appreciated.

Isn't it always the way that you organise a dive trip and some bug comes along and stuffs your plans

If you are ever coming down Canberra way and you can spare the time maybe we can hook up somewhere. I hunt goats only 40 mins from home (when they co-operate :D ) so you would need to bring your bow.

Practice up.

hi guys, yo reece i live about five minutes down the road from pennant hills in Hornsby unfortunatly im booked solid this weekend. Thanks heaps adam and jindydiver. unfortunatly i havent yet got my bow. I plan to have it by mid june fingers crossed. Maybe it would be a good idea to go along for a hunt or something without a bow...you know just to learn the ropes and help out with anything when need be. Adam i will email you my contact details. And jindy that sounds great, im not too far from canberra (compared to africa) its only bout 3 hours south of me. Last time i was there i spent a fortune on fireworks. So guys if anyone is looking for someone to come along carry gear set up tents and boil coffee i'd be happy for the learning experience. Will let all you guys know how i go with my bow. Right now im looking at a cartel recurve bow.
Thanks guys
Paul

No worries mate. I'm there every Sunday.

Last time i was there i spent a fortune on fireworks.

I'm sure that's all you spent your money on...  http://www.archery-forum.com/images/smiles/boobies.gif

Right now im looking at a cartel recurve bow.

I'm looking at a Martin X-200 or Hunter if I get the $$$; or a Cartel Longbow, a cheaper alternative... Who stocks the Cartel recurve?

Hi Reece surely you're not implying a teenage boy may have spent money on adult content? Perish the thought Reece. Abbey at castle hill stock cartel...they have emailed me info on the internature 102 takedown. Quite a nice looking bow comes as a package with sight, arrows, armgaurd, bowstand ,arrow rest ,side quiver etc etc and the one they showed me when i went down there also came with stabilisers. I'm sure it was a cartel also. They are however only around 250 bones and im a little concerned about quality for that price but im told they are quite reliable. Dont suppose you could tell me anything about cartel?

You can hang alot of $h!t on coach, and he'll take it. But beware he gives as good as he gets! :D

Never played with a cartel bow. They make some great accessories, I have a number of them for my target kit. They are best known for their aluminium/carbon composite arrows, Cartel Triples (used to be known as Olympians), which are comparible with the Easton ACE's.

I might head out to Abbey in the next few days and check out what they have.

Cheers mate im glad you're willing to help...i think its great they way all you guys help each other out. And hopefully one day when i know what im doing and know a few more people i can help another newbie out. I really think hunting should be kept alive. I would hate to start hunting only to have it banned or heavily restricted in a years time.
Yeh im hoping to get out there soon too Reece, also to benson archery. Though budget wise i think im going to have to get a recurve. I have found some cheap compound packages but im worried about the quality.
