View Full Version : Can someone explain?

Mucking around with arrow setups for 3D this afternoon.
Identical shafts (4 of each setup ), the only difference between set 1 & set 2 was the fletching.
Set 1 2" blazers 15 grains of fletching
Set 2 1.5" shield cut blazers 6 grains of fletching
Set 2 grouped 5-6" lower than set 1 @ 40yards
I thought set 2 would have been the faster set up?
Is it the oscillation of the arrows?
Any thoughts appreciated.

Set 1. fletches are heavier, so it stiffens up the arrow, and changes the resonating frequency,or being blasers, the arrow stablizeres sooner,or after shooting the first four arrows, you get tired :D :D
Have you tried shaft tuning against the vains?

Did you notice any difference in the flight characteristics between the two batches of arrows? Maybe the arrows with the smaller vanes took longer to settle down into a good flight pattern and as a consequence lost some velocity in the process.
Do the vanes have the same amount of helical angle on the shaft? If you increased the angle of the smaller vanes it might effect the velocity, even with smaller vanes, especially all the way out to 40 yards.
Other than that, I have absolutely no idea. It's very strange indeed.

No Mick going to have another play this morning, both sets flethed on the same jig.
