I made a cresting machine this week while on holidays and gave it a bit of a run and also gave feather splicing a go and the results are not half bad.

Real nice Kimal, did you splice the quil when doing the feathers or did you use 2 different quils.

Adam I cut both feathers at the same spot and butt them together and if you get it just right when you put them together they stick together like velcro(very cool).Heres some pics of the machine I made it out of a sewing machine motor and a light dimmer switch to get the speed adjustment easier.

looks like a good machine kimall,
ive been looking at council clean up piles for an old sewing machine for months now . where did you get yours?
ive tried vinnies aswell and im buggered if i can find one!
also ive been looking for an old 12V battery drill to do the same job.You power it with a downlight transformer.

Thanks Jeffro I got the machine out of my wifes sewing kit. :D
She had not ever really sewed so I thought it could be put to better use.

Lovely job and nice machine too, you could drill some 1" holes through the top to accomodate sone dip tubes as well.
Jeffro, try your council dump, ours has a recycling centre that has over 100 sewing machine alive and dead.

I got the 2 motors I have from the tip shop whilst I was In Vic. I Also got a quote for one from a sewing machine repair shop and they wanted $40 .
