Hi here it is sorry I upset people
Things you need timber 400mm x 60mm x 25 mm ( I will leave what type of timer up to you recommend hard wood) also a nother pice of timber 100mm x 50 mm x 12mm
2 Jigsaw or such 3, sander or sand paper 4 spray varnish 5 router ( or go & see some one that has 1 or mabe the shop where you get you timber from & usuall tape measure ruller pencils etc
http://www.picturepuppy.com/thumbs/robert43/bowgrip1.jpg (http://www.picturepuppy.com/images/robert43/bowgrip1.jpg)
This is the plan to work to
1 get you timber to be routed on the 25 mm side 12 mm wide & about 25mm deephttp://www.picturepuppy.com/thumbs/robert43/bowgrip4.jpg (http://www.picturepuppy.com/images/robert43/bowgrip4.jpg)
then side the other piece into the slot like suchhttp://www.picturepuppy.com/thumbs/robert43/bowgrip2.jpg (http://www.picturepuppy.com/images/robert43/bowgrip2.jpg)
You need this as other wise the the sides will brake ( the timber size will give you enough for 3 but if you are like me the 1st 1 will break
Trace on the timber taking note where the routed out part is
Carefully jig saw out your blank , pleas note on the right hand side you have to cutt out a part for the riser ( if you can look at a Shrewd grip or even you own oringinall grip, sand & trail fit to you bow . Where you sand & how much will be trial & error
When you like it spay varnish it or paint it
It should look like the this http://www.picturepuppy.com/thumbs/robert43/bowgrip5.jpg (http://www.picturepuppy.com/images/robert43/bowgrip5.jpg)http://www.picturepuppy.com/thumbs/robert43/bowgrip6.jpg (http://www.picturepuppy.com/images/robert43/bowgrip6.jpg)
Good luck ps you need to silcone the grip on ( this grip is a copy of Shrewd grip but not a cold in winter & much cheaper than the $85 + for the Shrewd

Nice on mate looks good, i been thinking of making wooden grips for my reflex, its a two sided style of grip, doesnt seem like it'll be that hard, when i get around to it.

Top job mate, thanks for taking the time to put it up!

It is satisfying to be able to make something for yourself that's for sure...wish we all had the time ;)

Maybe there's a market out there for you...if you sell 'em for much cheaper than the one's currently available which shouldn't be a drama :D

Now if you can make one of those for a Bowtech..I'd be interested in buying one...don't like the rubber in the Shrewd grip..much prefer wood..if just for the sake of being more asthetically pleasing :D

Very tidy Switchback1, I am a very keen wood worker myself and after seeing your handy work i fell inspired to fit out the Jag with a wooden grip and lose the rubber one. However despite the beauty of wood it can be a bit of a handful (yeah I know it's lame) to work with if you don't possess the tools or inclination that's where "Knead It" comes in. 'Knead It' is one of those mouldable putty's that has a plasticine like consistency while soft and sets like a rock when cured. It can be easily sanded, drilled even tapped. A chap I know has used it on his Martin, all he did was put a glob of 'Knead It' on his riser and basicaly grab it while it was still pliable to get a base shape which can then be fine tuned by sanding. Here's the good bit, if you stuff it up just put some more on and start again, very forgiving.
Cheers
Harry
