Mate just rang me from the Gold Coast who doesn't have internet access to check out a Primos Bow Sling he had seen in a magazine article for when your carrying out your trophy etc. Looks the goods so ordered us both one from Cabelas. Protects the cams, string & cables.

mate i had a couple sent over,i just got the one with a normal sling, with quick release clips that fit to ur riser...

i didnt go for that one as it looks bulky., plus with mine u just add some velcro to it and when ready to shoot u just clip it next to ur bow quiver..

but either way they are handy, like u said carry ur game,or for me i usually carrying a tripod as well...

pat :)

Mate you will be pleased with these I am sure I have used one now for the past two years and they are worth twice what you pay for them when your lugging back to camp with a head and meat on your shoulders or even if your not you can use your arms to climb or swing naturaly , it also stops crap, burrs and brush getting in around your cams or twigs pulling on your peep sight.

You wont look back.

Good luck out there

I made one with 3cm webbing and 3cm side release clips. You slide the one part of the clip onto the webbing, and move it up about 10cm, then sew the other one onto the end. You do this with one complete clip on each end.

When not being used, it rolls up and fits in in a tiny pocket in my bum-bag. On the way home, out it comes, over the shoulder and you're walking free.

Materials cost about $11 total.

Okay, i got my butt into gear earlier than anticipated.

you can hang the bow however you want, i hang it under my left arm so it sticks out in front and behind.

The sling goes around the limbs just above the limb bolts:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c180/Jpukallus/126_2618_1.jpg

Mine is the older version, where i cut some webbing off, and sewed it on further up the long piece, then put the webbing through the buckle parts and sewed it back onto itself. (I lie, my mum was here on holidays, and well, nobody sews like a mum. )

So it has four ends rather than two. Here is one end:

I have since made another newer version for a mate, where one part of the buckle slides up the webbing, and the other is sewn onto the end, so you can adjust the length of the "loop". It takes less sewing and cutting that way, too.

As you can see, when i roll it up it stores away very small, and can go in a pocket of your bum-bag, or wrap a rubber band around it if it's in a bigger pocket on a backpack.

I got the materials for about $11 from a camping shop.

After seing Puk's effort I decided to make one myself.

The holes that the clips go onto velcros on at the limbs, made it out of an old gym bags carry strap and supports.

I can leave this one on the bow all the time, if I like, as it sits behind the sight extension and stabiliser out of the way.

Can be extended easily and just clips off when not needed.

Going to give it a try this arvo on a Goat hunt.

Looks the goods men, when I was a tech shooter I used a side hook that held my bow really well, or if deer hunting once a animal had been taken I pretty much put my bow right away, the pack I use while deer hunting has straps for a bow.

But I like these straps you guys are using too.

I like the one you have made Warlocke.
Does it rattle or clank if you shoot the bow with it still on there?
Personally i don't like the idea of shooting with anything attached to the bow, but there's probably no good reason for me to feel that way. Besides, mine is much too long, it would get tangled.

Can you lengthen and shorten yours with the kind of strap you have on there?

I just really like the fact that they pack away to nothing, and you can be walking for hours holding your bow without a sling getting in the way, but it is right there when you need it. I still spend a LOT of time where i am not using it. I would hate to be surprised by a close animal and have to stuff around trying to undo plastic clips.

I use mine mostly when walking to and from likely areas. It is REALLY good at the end of the day when the arms are sore.

Puk,

Tried it out yesterday in Goat country, but held the bow the whole time because of the steep slopes moving the bow around too much.

No noise from the plastic clips and can be lengthened or shortened on the bow.

It didn't get in the road at all nor catch any of the scenery on the way through either.

Would have slung it over my shoulder if i had scored a Goat or had to carry my mate out (that is worth another story, maybe tomorrow).

Think in not so steep country this is the goods, works well.

Guys just got the Primos Bow sling delivered to-day, will post some pics on the weekend when I get time. First impression very good quality and appears to give great protection for the cams, string & cables. Folds up into itself to a pouch that has a loop so it fits on your belt when not in use.
